During the visit of ECHR colleagues in the frame of the DEER project, Halimi Isuf, Agatha Dos Santos, Nick Mallios and Yannis Dimos had valuable meetings with teachers from the Secondary High School of Domokos and 10 Primary School in Lamia. Research Findings Report at the Second Change School of Domokos

This research investigated the perceptions of the trainees of the Domokos Detention Center regarding the basic European values – Dignity, Equality and Respect . The analysis of the 15 questionnaires shows that most participants recognize the importance of these values in their personal and social lives, expressing positive attitudes towards equal treatment and the need to respect the rights of all. However, differences are identified regarding the perception of equality and its application in practice , which demonstrates the need for further educational empowerment and dialogue around these values.

One of the most intriguing objectives within the European Union is the active participation of its' citizens in all democratic processes and the engagement of everyone in the European way of life. DEER project directly addresses the necessity for incarcerated learners to acquire empirical and practical knowledge, skills and competences for European values, human and civic rights, and the democratic way of European life through concrete deliverables that will be implemented specifically for them.
