Collagraph print by Kylie Chung

Inspired from her recent trip to Kyrgyzstan, Kylie used a recycled tetra pack and tape to visualise a horse jumping in front of a valley of mountains. A sap green colour base with a relief layer of yellow was added to the vibrancy of the green.

Collagraphy can be so playful and experimental. Accessible in its nature of materials and techniques. No print is the same, there’s always some differences and each plate can be printed only a limited amount of times. It is a great way to be introduced to the Intaligo and Etching techniques.

This collagraph class is available to be booked on our website. If you’ve never printed before this is a great intro to the world of printmaking, as it’s not as laborious as other techniques and the concept is very simple and fun to grasp.

Mezzotint is a traditional printmaking technique known for its rich, velvety blacks and beautifully subtle tonal transitions. Unlike other engraving methods that begin with a smooth plate, mezzotint starts by creating a textured surface that would print completely black. The artist then carefully smooths and burnishes areas of the plate to bring out different shades of grey and light, almost like drawing an image out of darkness.

Want to experience this beautiful process for yourself? We have two Mezzotint courses designed to take you through different stages of the craft:

Mezzotint Fundamentals Course
Learn the foundations of mezzotint, from preparing and working your plate to understanding tone, tools and the printing process. Perfect for those who are new to the technique or want to learn the traditional technique.

Mezzotint Design & Edition Course
Take your mezzotint practice further by developing your own design and working towards creating a finished edition of prints. Ideal for those ready to explore the technique in greater depth and turn their ideas into a completed body of work.
Whether you’re discovering mezzotint for the first time or looking to develop your printmaking practice further, these courses offer the opportunity to slow down, experiment and experience one of printmaking’s most distinctive techniques.

CMYK screen print class (4 layers) with your own image!
Create true full-color screenprints using CMYK. In this hands workshop, you’ll learn the complete process from understanding separations to coating and exposing your own screens in class, then printing a fully registered Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, and Black print.

You’ll start with the fundamentals of CMYK and halftone separations, then move into screen prep: coating your screens, exposing your film, washing out details, and drying your screens for printing. After that, you’ll set up accurate registration and print each color in sequence to produce a clean, aligned multicolor result.

Along the way, you’ll learn practical troubleshooting strategies for the most common process issues, like misregistration, weak dots, clogged screens, and color shifting, so you can confidently repeat what you’ve learned.
