A great article from Haixun Wang (VP of Engineering and Distinguished Scientist @ WeWork) explaining what is state-of-art technology, limitation and possible breakthrough for NLP in business application.

One way he suggested is to pick the domain knowledge as a rule when data is not sufficient. "If lack of training data is a bottleneck for NLP, why not try harder to inject explicit domain knowledge into machine learning algorithms?"

Our DKN approach is when the data is not sufficient then why not get hundred to thousand of domain experts to provide their domain knowledge to scale up and speed up the training process. No one will argue the better and more of data will improve the accuracy and efficiency of AI, the question is HOW? DKN will present our breakthrough solution to solve the data issue soon. Stay tune!

Problem in Conversational AI Adoption Today
Despite the numerous benefits offered by AI conversational tools, its mainstream adoption is not yet prominent due to its inaccuracy and high costs in using it with the following limitations:

1. Conversational AI requires massive amount of data (Gigabytes) for training the AI model. Today most enterprises do not have sufficient data for this. Even data is available, it is unstructured requires huge amount of time for cleansing
2. Most data available online today is not domain specific such as hospitality, retail, travel specific. Making AI engine not accuracy on domain specific topics.
3. Privacy issue from EU General Data Protection Regulation will likely affect the collection of conversation data for any AI training activities even from very large enterprises thus further barrier for data collection on training AI engine.
