IS AMAZON TAKING AI TOO FAR?

Amazon recently announced that for certain searches, shoppers will be shown AI-generated product images. The idea is that when customers are not exactly sure how to describe what they are looking for, generated visuals can help them identify the right product category.

From a technology perspective, it is an interesting solution.

From a user perspective, however, an important question immediately arises: is this really what customers need?

After all, Amazon already has one of the world's largest product catalogs, filled with real product photographs. It is fair to ask whether an artificially generated image actually provides more value in a shopping journey than an image of a real product.

This is exactly why we enjoy following news like this. It serves as a reminder that technological possibility and business value are not the same thing.

In software development projects, we often encounter ideas that are perfectly feasible from a technical perspective. We can add AI to the system. We can automate a process. We can build new features.

But the real question is always the same.

How does this improve the user's experience?

Does it make the system easier to navigate? Does it help users find what they are looking for faster? Does it simplify purchasing or administration? Does it reduce uncertainty?

If there is no clear answer to these questions, then perhaps the solution is not a new feature or AI at all, but a better process.

Today, technological possibilities are almost limitless. That is exactly why good development decisions are about choosing what best serves the business objective.

That is why we always start by understanding the problem and only then select the technology. Just because something can be built does not necessarily mean it should be.

If you want your next development project to start with the business goal rather than the technology, let's talk. 🤖

A NEW SOFTWARE PROJECT IS ALWAYS AN OPPORTUNITY TO RETHINK HOW YOUR COMPANY OPERATES

Many people see software development primarily as a technology project. A new system, a new feature, or an investment that is expected to deliver a specific business outcome.

However, the value of the best development projects does not lie solely in the finished system.

A software project requires an organization to examine how it operates. Questions emerge that often remain invisible during day-to-day work. Who is responsible for what? How does a process move through the company? Where does information get stuck? What are the most common sources of errors? What data do we use, and where does it come from?

These questions are often more difficult to answer than expected. Not because the organization is operating poorly, but because there is rarely an opportunity to step back and review processes from a broader, system-level perspective.

A development project creates exactly that opportunity.

Through collaboration, responsibilities become clearer, bottlenecks become visible, duplicate processes are eliminated, and areas where time, energy, or money are being lost come to the surface.

In many cases, these insights alone create meaningful improvements. Operations become more transparent, decisions are made faster, and it becomes easier to identify which processes should be improved or simplified.

That is why we view every software development project as a business project as well. The system will eventually be delivered, but the real value is often created much earlier—during the process in which the organization learns to operate in a more conscious, transparent, and efficient way.

If your next development project is about more than implementing a new system, and you want to elevate the way your organization operates, let's talk. 🤖

THE LONGER YOU WAIT, THE MORE EXPENSIVE IT BECOMES

Many companies view software development or modernization as a major one-time expense. As a result, the decision often gets postponed.

"It still works."
"Maybe next year."
"We have more important priorities right now."

Meanwhile, outdated processes continue generating hidden costs every day.

Manual administration requires more working hours. Poorly connected systems force employees to enter the same information multiple times. Spreadsheets, workarounds, and temporary processes slow teams down, increase the likelihood of errors, and consume a tremendous amount of energy.

These costs rarely appear as a single line item in a financial report, yet they are constantly present in day-to-day operations. They show up as lost time, slower response times, poor decisions, and overburdened employees.

What is more, the longer outdated processes remain in place, the more expensive they become to fix. Inefficient workflows gradually become embedded in the organization, impractical solutions become accepted as normal, and modernization grows increasingly complex.

That is why we believe that software development is often not the expensive part.

Waiting too long is.

GREAT SOFTWARE ISN'T GREAT JUST BECAUSE IT'S TRENDY

Major technology companies are rapidly integrating AI features into their products. Meta, for example, is introducing subscription-based AI solutions across Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp, while making more and more features "intelligent" across its platforms.

It is becoming increasingly clear that the competition around AI goes far beyond a simple technology trend. Everyone is trying to discover where AI can create genuine value for users.

We love AI too, and we continuously explore new opportunities. Every day, exciting solutions emerge that can genuinely support operations, automate processes, and accelerate work.

At the same time, we also recognize that AI is not the best answer to every problem.

In many situations, a well-designed process, a reliable system integration, or a simple automation can create far more value than a fashionable AI feature. A system does not become modern simply because artificial intelligence is added everywhere.

The most important question is always whether a solution genuinely improves operations. Does it make work faster? Does it reduce errors? Does it remove burdens from the team? If the answer is yes, then it is worth implementing.

This is exactly why we enjoy thinking in terms of technology solutions. We do not aim to chase trends. We aim to build systems that create real business value for the long term.

Because truly great software solves real problems.

A GOOD SYSTEM CREATES TIME

Many people measure the value of digitalization solely by revenue growth. Yet the business impact of a software solution often appears elsewhere: in time savings.

In giving employees back hours that would otherwise be spent on administration. In eliminating the need to enter the same data into multiple systems. In allowing managers to gain a clear overview of operations with just a few clicks instead of piecing information together through lengthy meetings.

At first glance, these lost minutes may seem insignificant. But on a daily basis, they quickly add up. Across an entire team, the difference between efficient workflows and manual processes can be enormous. Time spent on repetitive tasks, searching for information, correcting errors, or attending unnecessary meetings comes at a significant cost.

Well-designed systems help solve exactly these challenges. They automate repetitive processes, centralize information, track statuses, and support day-to-day operations. As a result, teams can focus their energy on creating real value rather than handling administrative burdens.

This is just as much a business outcome as increased revenue. The difference is that it does not always appear in the first line of a financial report. Instead, it shows up through faster operations, reduced workload, and greater efficiency.

This is why we love building software systems. By automating processes, we give time back to our clients.

DATA BECOMES A BUSINESS ADVANTAGE

Most companies generate huge amounts of data every single day. Orders, inventory movements, customer interactions, manufacturing data, financial information — and that’s only the tip of the iceberg. These datasets often already exist within different systems, yet companies rarely use them consciously.

But every piece of data is a footprint of how the business operates. It reveals bottlenecks, highlights which products perform well, shows where processes slow down, and uncovers patterns that repeat over and over again.

The essence of data-driven operations is that decisions are not based on intuition alone, but on learning from past experiences. The more data we have and the better we understand the connections within it, the more informed our decisions become.

In many cases, there’s no need for entirely new data sources. The greatest value is often already inside your company — it simply needs to be properly structured, connected, and analyzed.

We help businesses turn existing data into real business knowledge. Because data alone is not yet valuable. It becomes truly powerful when it enables better decisions.

THE SOFTWARE THAT WORKS EVEN WHEN YOU DON’T

Many systems still function as passive tools today. You open them, search for something, generate a report, and get your answer. But the next step is still entirely up to you.

Technology, however, is constantly evolving. Google’s latest developments also show that software is increasingly moving toward independently monitoring the information that matters to you and automatically notifying you when something relevant happens.

This mindset creates huge opportunities in business environments as well. Imagine a system that monitors stock levels, tracks deadlines, detects unusual deviations, or alerts you when an important metric moves outside its normal range.

At that point, the role of software changes completely. It no longer simply stores data but actively supports operations. It helps identify problems before they turn into real issues.

To implement solutions like this, the first step is understanding which events truly matter for your business. What do you want to know about immediately? Which deviations require intervention? Which data points can lead to meaningful business conclusions?

We genuinely love building these kinds of smart solutions. We constantly follow new technological opportunities, and whenever we see real value, we integrate them into the systems we develop.

Because the best software becomes truly valuable when it keeps watching even when you can’t.

AI DOESN’T REPLACE BUSINESS THINKING

Many people think of AI as a tool that can tell you exactly what will happen. How much inventory will be needed, which products should be reordered in higher quantities, or when demand is expected to spike.

And yes, this can absolutely work when there are clearly recognizable patterns in historical data. For example, if sales of a product increase every year before Christmas, the system can easily detect this and warn you in advance to prepare.

Recently, we were discussing forecasting possibilities with one of our partners. The initial idea was that this year’s demand could be predicted based on previous years’ sales data. On paper, it sounded perfectly logical.

But once we looked closer at the details, it became clear that reality is more complex. One specific product had exceptionally high sales last April and May. At first glance, it looked like a clear recurring pattern. However, this year demand for that same product was significantly lower during the same period. The reason was simple: the weather conditions were completely different.

This conversation was a great reminder that AI can only provide accurate predictions if the truly important factors are included in the data. Last year’s sales numbers alone are not always enough. In many cases, external factors such as weather, market conditions, or marketing campaigns can significantly influence the results.

That’s why AI is not a crystal ball. The foundation of good forecasting is always a deep understanding of business processes. Once we truly understand what drives demand, technology can become an incredibly powerful tool.

THE BEST SYSTEMS ARE BUILT LIKE LEGO

Many companies begin a software project wanting the first version to cover every business process. CRM, project management, document storage, reporting, automation, customer portals — all in one large project.

This approach carries significant risk. Large systems take longer to build, are harder to test, more complex to implement, and involve much greater uncertainty. By the time they are ready, some of the business requirements may already have changed.

At the beginning of a project, no one sees the full picture. Collaboration patterns, decision-making speed, real priorities, and user needs become clearer only as the work progresses. That is why it is much safer to move forward in smaller steps.

We believe in modular development. This means building a system from smaller, independent components, just like LEGO bricks. First, we deliver a clearly defined module that can be put into use quickly and provides business value on its own.

This approach allows us to understand each other’s way of working, refine requirements, and gradually build the complete system. Over time, these smaller modules come together into a unified platform capable of supporting the company’s full operation.

Implementation becomes much smoother. The team adopts the new system step by step, feedback is incorporated quickly, and business results appear sooner.

AMAZON DOESN’T DEVELOP FEATURES. IT DEVELOPS EXPERIENCES

Amazon showed the world the true value of technology with its One-Click Buy feature. One click, and the purchase was complete. A simple idea that fundamentally transformed e-commerce by eliminating unnecessary steps.

Now Amazon is moving in a similar direction again. Its new AI-powered shopping assistant does more than help users search and compare products. It monitors prices, makes recommendations, and can even complete purchases automatically based on predefined conditions.

This is much more than a convenience feature. The role of software is changing. We used to work with tools. Now we are increasingly supported by digital assistants that can make decisions and take action on our behalf.

The real competitive advantage is no longer about how many features a system has. What matters is how much work it removes from the user. How many clicks it saves. How many decisions it automates. How naturally it fits into everyday operations.

This is exactly the mindset we follow in our own projects. We don’t simply build software. We create systems that reduce manual work, simplify processes, and generate real business value.

Because the best systems are not the ones that ask more from users. They are the ones that require less and less over time.
