Tepat satu tahun yang lalu foto ini diambil di daerah Desa Citemu Kabupaten Cirebon di hari pada saat perayaan Nadran diselenggarakan. Saya diundang untuk melakukan dokumentasi oleh Yayasan Wangsakerta yang pada saat itu sedang melakukan penelitian di desa tersebut.

Ketika saya melakukan proses dokumentasi di area dekat pagelaran wayang salah satu dalang dari grup wayang kulit yang sedang pentas menghampiri dan bertanya apakah sedang merekam untuk YouTube ? Saya jawab, tidak. Tapi ini untuk dokumentasi penelitian. Kemudian beliau meminta untuk justru memasukan video rekaman ke YouTube yang lalu tentu saja saya lakukan.

Teringat akan pembicaraan tersebut dan menyadari betapa tidak mudahnya kehidupan bagi nelayan dan masyarakat di kawasan pesisir, saya melakukan perpanjangan dari yang awalnya hanya dokumentasi menjadi pertunjukan audiovisual berdasarkan musik dan suasana pada saat Nadran diselenggarakan.

Pada akhirnya, tradisi dan budaya serta prosesi ritual yang telah berlangsung selama bertahun - tahun tidak hanya demi seni pertunjukan saja. Namun, sepenuhnya merupakan bagian dari kehidupan yang melekat tanpa definisi yang terlalu teoritis. Kalau di barat orang ngomong seni ini itu dan ritual juga adalah seni, tapi buat orang kampung, apa itu seni? Ini ya hidup.
