These aren’t just numbers. They’re Galway teenagers. Our teenagers.

Behind every statistic is a young person in our schools, clubs, and homes — navigating pressures most parents never had to face.

Understanding the risks of online life is no longer optional.

It’s part of protecting our youth and collectively being informed as early as possible.

Join one of our upcoming Think Smart Cyber Safety Community Events and learn what these local stats really mean — and what you can do as parents, teachers and youth workers in the community to turn these shocking stats around.

Awareness is key.
Hopefully we will see you there..

💫 One year on and reminiscing on a brill trip to NYC for St Patricks Day last year.☘️

A lot has happened since, great things for Think Smart Cyber but unfortunately the state of peace in the world today is not good.

Will keep the memories of the good times to the fore and hope we will be back there again when the world is in a better place. Here’s to hoping that changes fast.🙏

🎥Was really great to meet Sean Whelan reporting the 9pm RTE news live close to the Empire State Building. Some timing!🎤

😊Happy Saint Patrick’s Day all. I hope it was a great one for everyone who were both at home or away this year 🇮🇪☘️💚

“It’s part of their world but how can we protect them in a world of unregulated tech platforms who put profit over their protection?”

👩‍👩‍👧‍👧 Last week, hundreds more parents showed up again to our talks in Athlone and Rosscahill, looking for support.

😮 Many were shocked to learn the real extent of the online harm and significant risks facing our young people daily.

We keep hearing the same things:
💬 Parents feel outpaced and overwhelmed
💬 Communities demanding stronger protections
💬 An urgency that Government can no longer delay or ignore.

🙏 Huge thanks to Mark Walsh and The Tuam Herald for highlighting these hugely important issues in his article this week and supporting our initiative here in the West. Coverage like this helps get our critical messages heard.

📃 The additional piece with Dr. Madeleine Ní Dhálaigh shows clearly: the societal impact is already playing out — and urgent action is needed.

Massive thanks again to our expert speakers in our talks this week:
🧠 Child Psychotherapists Elaine Quinn & Sarah Boyle
👮‍♀️ Detective Garda Deirdre Holland, The Garda National Cyber Crime Bureau
💻 , providing parental control tools and industry insights.

This collective expertise and action is helping protect children faster — one talk, one school, one community at a time.

💫 At Think Smart Cyber, we’ll keep bringing parents, educators, experts and communities together. Collective action is the only way forward.

❗Government and Regulators need to act faster. The evidence is there. The harm is real. The time for talking is over.

💥 One School, 130 Parents showed up for their children! Another Powerful Event for Online Digital Safety 💥

🏫 Last night at Scoil na gCeithre Máistrí, County Westmeath, 130 parents came together — our highest attendance yet for a single school — all committed to strengthening their children’s digital safety.

👏 A sincere thank you to Eoin Ó Crofaigh and his leadership team for supporting their parents to make this incredible turnout possible and for prioritising online safety education for their school in such a meaningful way.

Feedback from parents is both honest and powerful:
🔹 “Kids are so vulnerable… the mental‑health impact is huge.”
🔹 “No phones in bedrooms or bathrooms — this needs to be the norm.”
🔹 “We’re all unaware of so many risks… every parent needs this education.”
🔹 “Keep the conversation open — reassure them we’re always here.”
🔹 “The Cisco tools were great — something I can actually use at home.”

🚨 These events are no longer optional — they are essential.
They raise awareness, build confidence, and give parents access to experts who can guide and support them with practical, evidence‑based advice.

👨‍👩‍👦‍👦 When parents, schools and communities come together with the right expertise behind them, that’s when real change happens.

💥 At Think Smart Cyber, we think and act fast, we collaborate smartly, and we bring the right experts into the room — because the risks facing young children and teens online cannot be ignored. The consequences are real, and they are long‑lasting.

🚀 Our mission is clear:
Protect our youth — and equip parents, communities and organisations with the clarity, knowledge and tools they urgently need today, not someday.

🎤 Our March Community Collaboration Cyber Safety Event is tonight, March 5th.

Parents — let’s fill the room again so we can continue supporting you and your communities in protecting your young people.
We’d love to see you there..

🙏 Don’t leave your child’s safety, future or mental health to chance. Come join us and find out what you need to know.

🌐 Safer Internet Day 2026 – 24 Hours, 400+ Young Lives & Parents Aware and Empowered!

💫 In the last 24 hours, I travelled from Cork back to Galway… and a full-on but impactful day it’s been.

💥 This morning, I had the privilege of training 350 incredible students at Scoil an Spioraid Naoimh Boys and Scoil an Spioraid Naoimh Girls in Bishopstown, Cork — and I also met some of their parents last night for another dedicated online safety session.

🚘 Straight after, it was back up the road to Galway to finish the evening with a really great parents and teachers session in one of our local schools, Castleblakeney National School.

🧒👦 The students were fully tuned in today in Cork — curious, engaged, and eager to learn how to stay safe online. It was brilliant to answer their questions and give them mindset resilience tools they can use for life, both on and offline. ⚒️

📲💻 And the parents and teachers… who were fully committed.
Every single one of them showed up with the same intention:
to understand the online world their children are growing up in, and to take action to keep them safe, strong, and resilient.📱🛡

📍This is exactly why Think Smart Cyber exists. To help families think smarter and act faster…To support parents and schools…
And to safeguard our youth’s potential, mental health, well‑being and future.

✨ Safer Internet Day is a reminder of something important:
We can’t slow down the online world — but we can empower children, parents and schools with the knowledge and tools to navigate it confidently.

🎯 Together, we are building safer digital spaces.
Every school. Every parent. Every child. ❤️

😟 A 10-year-old Galway girl r***d by a man she met on Snapchat, along with another 13-year-old girl in another part of the county - Are we all ok with this?

https://www.rte.ie/news/courts/2025/1112/1543619-rape-snapchat/

🛑 Is our Government in Ireland ok with this? Is it any wonder Denmark and Australia have banned social media for under-16s to protect their youth. These are hugely high-risk and dangerous platforms for any child or teenager to be allowed on. They should never have been allowed on them in the first place; they are so unsafe.

🤨 Well I am not ok with this, and this is why I am out there doing what I'm doing and getting in front of as many parents and children as fast as I can with experts joining me on the same mission.

🔐 📲 🧒 We explain exactly what is now happening re cases like this, and the top risks parents need to know and simple measures they can take so that these predators never gain access to their child in the first place.

🤔 Parents, THINK TWICE before you allow your child on any social media app or online platform, including gaming, as all, in their current state, facilitate these predators. They are just online playgrounds for them, with not a parent in sight.

🔈 I would highly recommend that you come join the second of our three THINK SMART Cyber Safety Community collaboration talks tonight in Ardrahan. We will have two expert guest speakers, including a Detective Garda trained in dealing with such cases, to make sure this never happens to your child.

👀 We will continue to wake up our communities here in the West to the reality of what's really going on and what you need to know as parents before you ever hand a smart device or online app to your child.

Sign up so we can help you protect your child online and also protect their mental health and future in the process. Don't leave your child to chance.

If you don't know the real and associated dangers before you hand them over, then how are you meant to protect them?

Details:
📍 Ardrahan – Loughnane & Quinn Memorial Hall
📅 Thursday, Nov 13th
🕢 7:30 PM – 9:00 PM

Why you can’t miss this:
✅ Hear from a Detective Garda from the National Cyber Crime Bureau
✅ Insights from a Child & Adolescent Therapist
✅ Practical tools to keep kids safe online & build resilience
✅ Connect with local clubs, schools & community leaders

🎟 Seats are limited and nearly booked out:
