A small moment in the game, but a meaningful milestone for the two of us.
Emerald Blood is currently being developed by Alex Mac Uaid and Alison McQuade, the two-person team behind MUE Games.
We both work full time and build the game around our jobs, family life and raising two young children. Progress often happens during evenings, weekends and whatever time we can carefully set aside, so it means a great deal when several different parts of the project finally begin working together.
In our latest build, Ailbhe arrives at the modern archaeological site at the Hill of Tara, receives her first objective and meets Dr Niamh Byrne at the research tent.
Our location introduction, objective tracking, NPC interaction and dialogue systems are now beginning to connect inside the opening scene of The Calling at Tara, our planned vertical slice.
Alison leads the story, quests and creative direction. Alex designs the world and characters, develops the gameplay logic and implements the story, quest and creative changes that we continue to shape together.
There is still a great deal to build and polish. Some characters, materials and environmental elements remain temporary, but seeing Ailbhe take her first playable steps through Tara was a genuinely exciting moment for us.
Emerald Blood is slowly becoming the world we have spent so long imagining, one system, one scene and one late evening at a time.
Our official product page is now live, and we are preparing a Kickstarter campaign for September.
