The future of Irish business is being rewritten by AI, and no one wants to get left behind.

New research from Viatel Technology Group and Amárach Research shows a seismic shift is underway, with 80% of Irish SMBs set to engage with AI in the next 12 months.

The benefits are clear: 98% of businesses using AI find it useful. However, the path to adoption is full of hurdles. The biggest barriers identified are:
- Security concerns
- Lack of technical expertise
- No formal AI policy or framework

A staggering 87% of Irish businesses don't have a formal AI policy. Without a clear roadmap, the risk of failed projects and financial loss—two of the biggest risks identified—increases.

As James Finglas, Managing Director of Digital Services at Viatel Technology Group, points out, while many are talking about AI, very few are engaged with it in a meaningful way. " At Viatel, we're actively partnering with organisations to get the policies, people and processes in place to roll out AI successfully.”

Meet Viatel Technology Group's Mental Health First Aiders!

Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) is the initial help given to someone who is developing a mental health problem, experiencing a worsening of an existing mental health problem or a mental health crisis.

We are proud to say that we currently have 11 qualifi ed MHFAiders across our business. We want to show our employees that we are tackling the mental healt h stigma and encouraging supportive behaviours in our workplace and beyond.

This Valentine's week, we are looking back to our PRIDE celebrations last year in June. Viatel Technology Group selected the Talented Youth Community Fellowship Uganda (TAYCOF) as our Pride fundraiser beneficiary.

TAYCOF is an inclusive faith-based ministry led by Black Transgender women & open to the q***r community, championing freedom and rights through religion. Over the month of June, the team at Viatel raised €1,000 for the organisation.
