No team? No problem.
You don't need a team to register for the TechIreland National AI Challenge 2026, you don't even need a finished idea, but you do need to register by Sunday - https://eu1.hubs.ly/H0xvs8M0

Part of the Challenge is about bringing people together. Developers meet founders. Ideas meet technical talent. Industry problems meet new perspectives. And sometimes, people who had never worked together before leave having built something real.

Irish Manufacturing Research (IMR), as a Regional Hub Partner with FactoryXChange (FXC 2.0), is proud to be part of a nationwide collaboration that's already seen 200+ registrations!

If you want to build with AI, collaborate with others and challenge yourself over two intensive weeks, register now. We'll take it from there.

Registrations close this Sunday, 9 August.

Join us at IMR Mullingar on Wed, the 19th of August for a hands-on workshop exploring how connectivity, edge AI, and analytics are transforming manufacturing, delivered in partnership with 2.0.

Our IoT team will take you through the full journey of industrial data, "from sensor to decision," with a live demo on an operational assembly machine showing how vibration and temperature data can be captured, analysed, and linked directly to product quality insights.

You'll gain practical insight into:
- Wireless connectivity for the factory floor
- Edge AI for condition monitoring & quality inspection
- Scaling IoT across multiple assets
- Turning industrial data into better business decisions

Perfect for engineers, technical managers, operations teams, and SMEs exploring digital transformation.

- 19 August | 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM
- Fully funded through FXC 2.0 β€” but spaces are strictly limited to 25.

Printed in Mullingar. Proven under fire.

Earlier this month, the ULAS HiPR team hot-fired the LΓΊin of Celtchar, Ireland's first 3D printed liquid rocket engine at Race2Space 2026.

Five successful hot-fires. Full 2 kN thrust. Pushed to 150% of design thrust and still fully operational. 97% combustion efficiency. And Best Newcomer at the competition πŸ‘

Designed by the ULAS HiPR students and printed at IMR's Advanced Manufacturing Lab using metal additive manufacturing. Supported through FactoryXChange 2.0.

It was a pleasure to welcome the Head Judges of the Stripe Young Scientist & Technology Exhibition to IMR in Mullingar yesterday.

Our CEO Barry Kennedy, himself a Head Judge, took the group behind the scenes for a tour of our facilities, showcasing how we turn cutting-edge research into practical, real-world solutions for Irish manufacturers.

Thank you to the whole Young Scientist & Technology Exhibition Ltd team for visiting. The energy and expertise you bring to nurturing young talent is exactly the kind of thinking that keeps Irish innovation moving forward.

And that's a wrap on another fantastic Manufacturing & Supply Chain Event for another year.
What an incredible team! 2 days of insightful talks and engaging conversations at the RDS Simonscourt!

IMR's Director of Learning & Development, Tamara Wierks was last up from IMR with her talk on "Why Skills are becoming Manufacturings Competitive Advantage” - Transforming Workforce Capabilities for the next generation of manufacturing excellence." Tamara made the case that workforce skills are now a strategic competitive advantage for manufacturers, drawing on World Economic Forum data showing 74% of manufacturers face acute skills shortages and 39% of existing skillsets will be outdated by 2030, before arguing that traditional job-based workforce models are no longer fit for purpose and that organisations must transition to a skills-based approach, combining technical capabilities like AI and automation with human skills such as adaptability and critical thinking, concluding that becoming a skills-based organisation is not an HR initiative but a manufacturing transformation strategy.

Thank you to all who dropped by our stand and please reach out if you'd like to follow up on any conversations or if you'd like more information about what we do.

We've had a blast!
