Pakistan Independence Day…
Today, while celebrating independence, many of us also feel deeply dependent on circumstances beyond our control. Things back home are not where they should be.
But today, I want to focus on what Pakistan has given me- and how those lessons have helped me thrive globally.
1. Problem-solving:
Growing up, you learn to make the most of what you have. You learn to work with limited resources, find alternatives and keep moving forward.
At some point in life, whether professionally or personally, we all have to operate with constraints.
Pakistan taught me not to wait for perfect conditions before taking action.
2. Jugaad
It is difficult to translate properly. The closest meaning might be a smart workaround- finding a practical way forward when the obvious route is not available.
Every Pakistani understands the power of jugaad. It has helped me at work, in my personal life and in countless small, everyday tasks. Sometimes, the solution is not about having more resources. It is about looking at the problem differently.
3. Giving and helping is in the DNA
I am not claiming to be the most generous person. But growing up in Pakistan taught me the importance of helping others and sharing what you know.
That is one reason I am proud of Build Your Career with Abdur- a platform through which I can give back using the knowledge and experiences I have gained while navigating my own career.
We have been fortunate to support people who went on to secure job offers. I am proud of that each offer can change the trajectory of a person’s life and bring greater stability to an entire family.
So, on another Independence Day, my wish for Pakistan remains simple:
May things back home move towards normalcy.
Nothing fancy. Just normal.
So people can work, build, raise their families and live the lives they deserve - without all the unnecessary drama.
Happy Independence Day, Pakistan. 🇵🇰
