Employees with an existing pension are currently exempt from Auto-Enrolment — even if only the employee is contributing.
However, the Government is now exploring ways to ensure employers also contribute to these existing arrangements.

If an employee’s pension contribution is below 3.5% of gross pay, you can expect follow-up from DSP/NAERSA in 2026 to review their status.
