⭐ A small favour from Print That Thing 3D!

If I’ve printed something for you in the past and you were happy with the result, I’d really appreciate it if you could take a minute to leave Print That Thing 3D a Google review.

Reviews make a huge difference to a small local business like mine — they help new customers find me and see what others think of my work.

It only takes a minute and genuinely helps a lot. ❤️

Yep, I print car parts too. 😎

This one came in as a ready-to-print STL and was printed in ABS/ASA — a much better choice than PLA when heat resistance and durability matter.

Big part, long print, and a pretty satisfying result.

Does ABS/ASA smell absolutely fu***ng horrible while it’s printing?
Yes. 😂

And if you don’t believe me, just ask my girlfriend. She’ll confirm it. 😂

But hey… the things we do for a good print.

Got a ready-to-print 3D model that needs producing? Whether it’s something for a car, workshop, home or another project — send it over and I’ll see what I can do.

❤️ I absolutely love moments like this.

A customer messages me with a simple:
“Can you print this for me?”

Sure! We talk about the size, material, price… normal stuff. The print gets done — 13 hours of FDM printing. 🖨️

But then, somewhere between a few messages, I realise there’s something more behind it. 👀

This isn’t just “print me a thing.”
There’s a story. There’s a reason. It actually means something to someone.

And that's the moment when everything changes at PrintThatThing3D. 🔥

🗑️ That original FDM print?
13 hours of printing… straight in the bin. 😂

At that point, those 13 hours simply didn't matter anymore.

The project goes back to the drawing board. Suddenly I'm looking at resin printing, FDM, laser work, custom finishing and whatever else I can throw at it to turn the original request into something completely different. 🛠️✨

Because once I know WHY you want something made, sometimes “good enough” simply isn't good enough anymore.

It has to be right. It has to be 100%. 💯

So here's a little tip if you ever order something from me:

💬 TALK TO ME.

Tell me what you're planning. Tell me why you're making it. Tell me the story behind it.

Because sometimes that little bit of information completely changes what I can make for you.

And if you manage to get ME personally interested in the idea too… 😈

Well…
that's when things can get seriously out of hand. 😂🔥

And that's exactly what happened this time.

I can't show you what I'm making just yet… 🤫
But this one is going to be special.

To be continued… 👀

🐢 Work in progress!

I'm definitely not a painter, so it is what it is. 😅 I'm just having fun, learning with every project, and trying to get a little better each time.

Hopefully I'll have this turtle finished tomorrow! 🤞🎨

"Do you only print complete models?" 🤔

Believe it or not... we actually get questions like this. 😅

So here's the official answer:

✅ Heads? Yes.
✅ Arms? Yes.
✅ Legs? Also yes.
✅ Replacement parts? Absolutely.
✅ Completely random requests? Bring them on. 😎

Sometimes a customer only needs a replacement part. Sometimes it's for a custom project.

And sometimes... they just need four angry Hulk heads. 💚😂

At Print That Thing 3D, we don't judge. We just print.

(Although four angry Hulk heads is definitely one of the more normal jobs we've had...)

🚨 Something BIG is coming... 👀

For the past few weeks, something new has been quietly joining the workshop.

A new machine.
New possibilities.
Completely new products.

This is probably the biggest step forward for PrintThatThing3D since adding resin printers.

I'm not revealing what it is just yet... 😏

But one thing is certain:

The next chapter is going to be colourful.

Stay tuned. 🔥

🔥 Some projects deserve to be shown twice.

This massive model was printed here at PrintThatThing3D, then brought to life by one of my regular customers with an absolutely phenomenal paint job.

The size alone makes it an impressive piece, but the level of painting, weathering and colour work takes it to another level. Every time I see photos like this, it's a reminder that a great print is only the beginning of the journey.

Huge thanks for sharing the finished result and for trusting me with your projects again. Seeing my prints transformed into display pieces like this is one of the best parts of what I do.

Outstanding work! 👏🔥

🚀 Another custom 3D printing project in progress!

This time I'm printing a dew/light shield for the Seestar S30 Smart Telescope – a simple but very useful accessory that helps reduce stray light and improve viewing conditions.

🅰️ or 🅱️? 👀 You decide.

Both are exactly the same model.

🅰️ Left
Resin printed
Around 3 minutes of painting

🅱️ Right
FDM printed
Almost 2× larger

Here's the interesting part...

Both models took almost exactly the same time to print.

Despite being produced using completely different technologies, the difference in the final price would be much smaller than most people expect.

Before you decide, don't just look at the size. Zoom in on the fine details, hair, facial features, surface finish and overall texture. That's where the biggest differences become obvious. 👀

So if you had the choice...
Would you rather have a smaller model with crisp details and a premium finish, or one that's almost twice the size but printed in FDM?

If you could only pick one...
🅰️ Resin or 🅱️ FDM?

I'm genuinely curious which one you'd take home — and why. 🍀

🚫 A small announcement from PrintThatThing3D. 🚫

From today, I will NO LONGER print highly detailed figurines using FDM.

Not because FDM printers are bad.
Not because they "can't do it."

Simply because it's the wrong technology for this type of model.

If a model has hair strands thinner than a 0.4 mm nozzle, fingers barely thicker than a toothpick, or other microscopic details... physics wins every single time.

A nozzle has a physical width.

The model doesn't magically make it smaller.

Yes, you can change:

layer height,
support placement,
temperatures,
speeds...

But none of those settings can make a 0.4 mm nozzle print a 0.2 mm feature.

And yes... before anyone says it... I do own 0.2 mm nozzles. 😄

But I'm not going to tie up one of my printers for 2–3 days to produce a single figurine for €40. That's simply not a realistic service for either me or the customer.

That's exactly why resin printing exists.

So from now on:

✅ Functional parts → FDM & Resin
✅ Mechanical parts → FDM & Resin
❌ Highly detailed figurines/ultra small elements on model → RESIN ONLY. No exceptions.

I'd much rather recommend the right technology than sell someone the wrong one just to make a sale.

Quality here comes first.
