The Israeli startup, founded by Prof. Amnon Shashua, Prof. Yoav Shoham, and Ori Goshen, earned unicorn status thanks to its text-based generative AI services for enterprises. Investors include Google, Nvidia, and co-founder Shashua

The previous month was one of the weakest months of the Israeli startup ecosystem in terms of the number of deals and the total amount raised, with only $300 million.

Fortunately, February's numbers have improved slightly, totaling $740 million. However, this increase is mainly due to two companies.

The first is Wiz, the cloud security startup that has rapidly grown to become one of the fastest-growing companies in the world, raising an impressive $300 million and increasing its value to $10 billion in just three years.

The second is Via, an on-demand transportation solution that recently shut down its "Bubble Dan" service in Israel but continues to make a significant impact worldwide, raising $110 million.

Do you believe that 2023 will continue the trend of decline seen in 2022, or do you think that things will improve?

December has ended, and so did 2022, one of the worst years for the Israeli and global tech sector (at least when compared to 2021) - and according to this month's numbers, it seems like this negative trend isn't going to change in 2023.
December ended with only 22 (known), totaling more than $550 million, including Snyk's remarkable $196.5 million G Round, that account for more than a third of this month's total funds.

Well, let's hope for a better year!

2021 just called

Less than two months after laying off almost 200 employees, the cybersecurity unicorn closed its latest funding round at a reduced valuation

The end of the year is almost here, but it's a bit early for yearly summaries, so let's focus on the month that just ended - November. As you can see, with nearly $800m, we're far away from the record-breaking (and some might say "bubble") numbers of 2021, but it's still encouraging to see that the Israeli ecosystem is still alive and kicking. Companies like Weka and Apiiro are getting significant investment rounds, alongside many new startups raising seed and A rounds.

Some exciting news in times of uncertainty. Well, at least for Apiiro.Congrats!

Some exciting news in times of uncertainty. Well, at least for Apiiro.
Congrats!

Apiiro, an application security startup, announced a $100M Series B today, a significant sum at a time when investors are belt tightening.

In spite of surpassing $1 billion in the previous month, Israeli startups seem to be tumbling below it this month. But there's still reason to be optimistic - the number of deals is on the rise. Nearly 40 (reported) deals took place in September, including many early-stage emerging startups seeking Pre-Seed, Seed, and Round A investments for growth, development... and survival - this is what makes an ecosystem successful.

Are we back on track?
After last month's slightly low numbers, and as the layoffs continue, it's encouraging to see Israeli startups surpass the $1 billion mark again and that we have five mega-rounds with over $100 million (including one incredible $262 million Series C funding for DriveNets).

However, it's too early to celebrate. These five companies account for more than 70% of this month's total investments, and the number of reported deals stays around 30, compared to 50-60 monthly deals in 2021.

Still, every new flow of money into the Israeli startup ecosystem is a blessing, and these companies will surely be glad to recruit the hundreds of fired employees. Congratulations to all!

But hey, we broke a new record for "Most companies with Robotics in their name in a single month"!

Startup Israel Community, July 2022: Only 30 deals. No mega rounds above $100 million. No new Unicorns. Only one Cybersecurity startup. Seems like someone hit the Reset button.

June is behind us, so it's the perfect time to look at the companies that grabbed some investments and made global inflation seem a little more optimistic.

In June 2022, 42 Israeli startups raised more than $2.1 billion - primarily thanks to the Israeli-founded company Ultima Genomics, which came out of stealth mode this month and announced that they've already raised an unbelieve amount of $600m. The SF-Based company enables fast genome sequencing for only $100 - way cheaper than their main competition.

Next on the list is the AI-Automated sports camera Pixellot - AI-Automated Sports Production with an incredible $161m financing round and the full-stack observability SaaS platform Coralogix with a $142 million Series Series D round.
Staying above the three-digit investments, we can find the Unicorn Club's latest members: The 4D imaging sensors developer Vayyar Imaging which raised $108 million at a $1.5 billion valuation for its ability to "see through walls," and the network security company Perimeter 81 with $100 million at a $1B valuation.

Also worth mentioning is LUSIX, an Israeli lab-grown diamond manufacturer founded by Benny Landa and raised $90 million, and Gloat, with the same amount as Lusix, for its HR flexibility platform that uses AI to enable employees to find a new role or career path within the company.

The rest of the startups are listed in our Infographic below:
