INNOVADER, the innovation club, under the aegis of Department of Mechanical Engineering, is organizing a "Racing vehicle design & product development practice" Formula Zero - E workshop in association with Drift Advanced Designs from 14th November,2014 (Friday) to 16th November, 2014(Sunday). Details of the workshop are given below. Workshop is open for students of all branches through all semesters. The registrations will start from the 6th November, 2014 to 10th November, 2014, in room no. 18, Wing B, Academic block.
About Drift Advanced Designs
Drift Advanced Designs is a multidimensional, creative, scientific & engineered design & development company primly focused on Automotive technology development. It is dedicated towards rigorous research & development on automotive design quality management & innovations from resource to product & preparation to production level, thus trying to create a new scope & dimension for Indian Automotive industry.
Formula Zero is India’s first ever platform for engineering undergraduates & graduates which provides a real world engineering involvement, access to latest design issues and builds an Eco-system for engineering research & product development practice.
By definition Formula Zero is an “On-campus workshop cm training program” on the backbone of Formula Race Engineering.
Formula Zero - E Workshop
Subject - High performance vehicle engine design, live engine tuning practice & product development engagement.
Concept - Learn, Practice, Develop, Bid.
Learning session (on-campus)
- Engine design methodology, powerband concepts & calculations.
- Engine thermodynamic & fluid dynamic modelling.
- CFD applications on Ansys-14.5.
- Control system design.
- Engine Electronic Control.
- Tuning fundamentals and engine tuning practice.
Practice session (on-campus)
- Live engine tuning practice on a 150-200 cc 4-stroke IC engine.
- Control calculations on the design sheets.
- Students will be judged on the above two hands-on performance by them, for this a grand design challenge will be organized on the third day of the program.
Development session (November to March)
- All the participants develop a real engineering product assigned to them based on the topics covered in learning & practice session with the help of D.A.D FREE 24x7 R&D support system.

- Design books on "Powertrain design" & "Engine Management system" (on-campus)
- D.A.D mobile app to support in development of product (on-campus)
- D.A.D online support forum (on-campus registration)
- IVRS system
- D.A.D offline R&D centers
- D.A.D Bangalore engine lab to support testing
- Access to D.A.D design archives.
Bidding session
- Bidding of the student's developed product in front of the giants of the industry in March
- The venue of bidding will be IIT, Kanpur, IIT Indore or IIT Mandi.
- The details will be announced during the event.
Certification & awards
- Certificate of "Engine management System design & practice" to all the participants, in association with Techkriti, IIT Kanpur.
- Certificate of "Innovation" to the top three winners of the design challenge held at the end of the workshop, in association with Techkriti, IIT, Kanpur.
- A cash prize of 15,000/- INR to the top three winners of the design challenge sponsored by D.A.D.
