(i) First Generation (1946-1954):-

In 1946 there was no 'best' way of storing instructions and data in a computer memory. There were four competing technologies for providing computer memory: electrostatic storage tubes, acoustic delay lines (mercury or nickel), magnetic drums (and disks?), and magnetic core storage.
The digital computes using electronic valves (Vacuum tubes) are known as first generation computers. the first 'computer' to use electronic valves (ie. vacuum tubes). The high cost of vacuum tubes prevented their use for main memory. They stored information in the form of propagating sound waves.

Computer is an electronic device that receives input, stores and manipulates data, and provides output in a useful format at high speed. Computer performs tasks, such as calculations or electronic communication, under the control of a set of instructions called a program. Computers perform a wide variety of activities reliably, accurately, and quickly. The most versatile machine that man has ever created is computer. In the sectors of education, industries, government, medicine, scientific research, law and even in music and art computer has played a vital role. So without computers, life would certainly be difficult and different.

Windows 8 Security: What's New?

Microsoft has been adding and improving advanced security features and capabilities in its Windows operating system and other applications over the past few years. Each iteration of Windows has featured improved security—necessary to withstand the constant barrage of attacks—and Windows 8 coming is no exception.
In Windows 8, Microsoft expanded its support for embedded hardware security, bundling a full-blown security suite into the operating system, introducing secure boot and signed applications, and enableing alternate authentication schemes, to name a few. Some of the latest innovations are aimed specifically at enterprise users and meet business needs, but there are plenty of improvements that end-users will notice right off the bat, too.
"After reviewing the layers of technologies used by Microsoft to protect Windows 8, it is our opinion that it is the most secure version of Microsoft Windows to date," Aryeh Goretsky, a distinguished researcher at ESET, wrote in a whitepaper examining security technologies in Windows 8 released earlier this month. Microsoft is offering three main versions of the new operating system. Windows 8 is the "home" edition, Windows 8 Pro includes features for enterprises, such as support for Hyper-V, BitLocker, a virtual private network client and group policy support, and Windows RT for ARM-powered devices.

Dual Notebook for Desktop

The whole idea of notebook docks was interesting 10+ years ago when we had to be frugal with our I/O ports and live with subpar LCD screens. Now that notebooks have pretty much caught up with desktops, do we really need another docking solution? According to designer Yong-Seong Kim, we do.

His go-anywhere desktop docking solution calls for a large slot behind the LCD display. This is where you slide your notebook in, allowing you to access all its information from a desktop form factor. The notebook’s screen also becomes your second display, in portrait mode of course.
It’s an interesting concept but somehow, this makes as much sense as the palm folio.

Dell Inspiron New Notebook | Dell New Notebooks

Convertible tablet PCs – that is, tablet PCs that can turn into a regular laptop form factor – have traditionally had swivel screens on hinges that work the same way as the swivel screens on Sony’s Alpha DSLRs, for example. There was also one with an awkward sliding mechanism that nobody remembers, but we won’t go into that here. At the Intel Developer Forum being held right now in San Francisco, Dell introduced an upcoming addition to their dell Inspiron line with a 10-inch notebook that transforms into a new tablet PC using a whole new approach. Once you open the lid of the laptop, the screen flips around on an axis halfway down the sides of the display, turning into a clamshell laptop!
