A neurosurgeon just solved a math problem that stumped experts for 22 years. Using ChatGPT.

Dr. Shanmu Jin wasn’t even trying to. He was researching brain ultrasounds when he got curious about Crouzeix’s Conjecture, a problem mathematicians had failed to crack since 2004.

He set ChatGPT 5.6 to run autonomously for 16 hours with no human input. It came back with a full proof.

Mathematician Michel Crouzeix himself, who posed the original problem, checked it and confirmed it’s correct.

Jin has no formal advanced math training. Just self-taught curiosity and an AI that didn’t stop until the proof held up.

Scientists just gave cockroaches scuba suits.

The suit delivers oxygen straight to their breathing holes, letting them survive underwater for up to three hours. That turns them from land-only rescue tools into ones that can move through flooded rubble and disaster zones robots can’t reach.

These cyborg cockroaches have already been used in a real rescue mission after the 2025 Myanmar earthquake.

The bigger goal? Space suits. Researchers want to eventually send them to explore other planets.
