We are stoked to have won India’s best design project! Read on to know more about What we did…
CHALLENGE - The V20 VR arcade game is a whole new way to play cricket. Joseph Design worked with Madhatter Studios to create the physical game structure. It was designed to attract customers, have them step in, don a VR headset and be transported into a game of virtual cricket. For Madhatter Studios, it was important to have a platform that made a strong impact against a barrage of competing games. It needed to stand out and attract customers in a busy play-zone inside a mall.
Besides creating a striking visual, the enclosure had to form a safe zone where players could swing a bat at will, while wearing a headset and not hit a passerby.
It was essential that the game’s structure exude a futuristic feel, combining the classic game of cricket with the world of virtual reality. We needed to engage the customer and give them a prelude to the experience of playing the game.
SOLUTION - The structure, influenced by sci-fi environments, is built from laser-cut metal and acrylic panels with integrated LED lighting to form an angular, safe enclosure for a customer to play within. This enclosure is a futuristic take on traditional cricket practice nets. The structure includes a light-wall-background which also houses an LCD display, showing the game for onlookers to view.
The hardware and wiring was concealed while also being easily accessible. The metal structure housed speakers, and concealed wiring paths with service panels for the lighting, VR headset and game hardware.
The new V20 arcade game’s futuristic structure, and visually arresting lighting design was an immediate hit with the target audience. When the game debuted at select Funcity play zones, it allowed Madhatter Studios to more than triple their monthly footfall.
