Not everything left after production is waste.

The juice is the main product.

But the peel, pulp and seeds left behind may still have commercial value

🍊 The peel can go to a food-ingredient manufacturer to extract pectin

🍊 The outer rind can be processed by an essential-oil or fragrance manufacturer

🍊 The remaining pulp and seeds may go to an animal-feed processor

🍊 Lower-grade organic residue may be sent to a composting or biogas facility

Peel, pulp or seeds are defined as by-products in the orange juice Bill of Materials.

When the manufacturing order is completed, Odoo records both the orange juice and the by-product quantities.

The by-product can then be stored separately, sold to another business or used as an input in another production process.

Genuinely unusable material is recorded through the Scrap action and removed from available inventory.
