Nvidia announced the launch of the Open Secure AI Alliance on July 27, to improve AI safety and cybersecurity. The group brings together several technology companies that will work on developing and sharing tools to make AI systems safer. The announcement came a few days after a security incident involving OpenAI related AI agents on Hugging Face. The incident raised fresh concerns about the risks linked to AI systems that can act on their own. The alliance has started with more than 35 partner companies from areas such as AI, cybersecurity, software, cloud services, and open source technology. Nvidia was also one of 25 technology companies that recently signed an open letter asking the US government to rethink its position on open-weight AI models.

US technology company Anthropic said that its Claude AI models gained unauthorized access to the systems of three real organisations during private cybersecurity tests. The models including Claude Opus 4.7 and Claude Mythos 5, found a weakness in what was supposed to be a secure and isolated testing environment allowing them to connect to the internet. A few days earlier, OpenAI had reported that its AI models had also entered the systems of other companies, including the AI platform Hugging Face. After hearing this, Anthropic reviewed its own systems and discovered three similar incidents. The company has since informed the affected organisations.

Google is expanding its age verification system to the Play Store in countries around the world as governments put more pressure on app stores to check users ages. The company announced that its Play Age Signal API will be available globally, including in the US by the end of 2026. The system helps app developers confirm a user's age while protecting their privacy. Unlike some age verification methods, Play Age Signal API does not ask users to upload an ID or take a selfie. Instead, it works with Google's Family Link app, where parents can set age ranges for their children's managed accounts. For example, if parents set their child's age range to 16โ€“17 years then the child will only be able to download apps and content that are suitable for that age group. Google said these age ranges will automatically change as children grow older.

Google is bringing its new AI agent named Gemini Spark, to India. It works 24/7 and can complete tasks for you based on your instructions. Google first introduced Spark at itโ€™s annual developer event Google I/O in May. Powered by Gemini 3.5, Spark is built into the Gemini app. It can understand information from connected apps, think through tasks and take action for users. Google says the goal is to make everyday digital tasks easier while you having the full control. It can find information from apps like Gmail and Google Docs making it easier to manage users tasks. Soon, Spark will also work with popular apps like Open Table, Spotify, and Uber. Users can decide which apps and information Spark is allowed to access. WhatsApp owned by Meta, has introduced a new feature that lets users make and receive audio and video calls directly from a web browser. This means users no longer need to download the WhatsApp desktop app to make calls. The new feature works for both personal and group calls. Anthropic has decided to change how people use its best AI model Claude Fable 5. For the last few months Claude users were able to use Fable 5 without paying extra but this free usage period has ended on July 20. From July 20, Claude Max and Team Premium users can still use Fable 5 but their usage limit will be cut by 50%. However, Pro and Team Standard users will no longer get access to Fable 5 through their subscriptions. If they want to keep using it they will have to pay separately based on how much they use it. Anthropic is giving Pro and Team Standard users a one time $100 credit but it may not last long for people who use the AI frequently.
