In continuation of its sustained drive against drug trafficking and narcotic-related activities, Srinagar Police has attached an immovable property in District Budgam, worth approximately ₹𝟰 𝗖𝗿𝗼𝗿𝗲𝘀, belonging to a notorious drug peddler under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985.

Police Station Khanyar attached the property of 𝐅𝐚𝐲𝐚𝐳 𝐀𝐡𝐦𝐚𝐝 𝐃𝐚𝐫 𝐒/𝐨 𝐆𝐡𝐮𝐥𝐚𝐦 𝐇𝐮𝐬𝐬𝐚𝐢𝐧 𝐃𝐚𝐫 𝐑/𝐨 𝐈𝐜𝐡𝐠𝐚𝐦, 𝐁𝐮𝐝𝐠𝐚𝐦, in connection with FIR No. 04/2026 under Sections 8/21 of the NDPS Act.

The attached property comprises a two-storeyed residential house with an attic structure along with 05 Kanals and 17 Marlas of land, bearing Khasra nos. 415/416, situated at Ichgam, Budgam, with an estimated market value of approximately ₹4 Crores.

The property has been attached under Section 68-F of the NDPS Act, 1985, after being identified as an illegally acquired asset, allegedly derived from the proceeds of narcotic drug trafficking.

The attachment is part of the ongoing efforts of J&K Police to dismantle the financial networks of drug traffickers and deprive them of assets generated through the illicit drug trade. Such action reflects the commitment of Srinagar Police to target not only the supply of narcotics but also the financial infrastructure that sustains drug trafficking.

Srinagar Police reiterates its unwavering commitment to the making the city drug-free and will continue sustained and stringent action against drug traffickers, their associates and illicit assets.

Srinagar Police have arrested a habitual fraudster, 𝗨𝗯𝗮𝗶𝗱 𝗠𝗮𝗾𝗯𝗼𝗼𝗹 𝗞𝗵𝗮𝘄𝗮𝗷𝗮, 𝘀𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝗠𝗮𝗾𝗯𝗼𝗼𝗹 𝗔𝗵𝗺𝗮𝗱 𝗞𝗵𝗮𝘄𝗮𝗷𝗮, 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗚𝗼𝗺𝗮𝗹 𝗖𝗵𝗲𝗸, 𝗧𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗱𝗮𝗿, 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗹𝘆 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝘁 𝗛𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗯 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗻𝘆, 𝗔𝗹𝗼𝗰𝗵𝗶 𝗕𝗮𝗴𝗵 in connection with FIR No. 45/2026 under Sections 318(4) and 319 BNS, registered at 𝗣𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗠𝗮𝗵𝗿𝗮𝗷 𝗚𝘂𝗻𝗷.

The accused have defrauded and duped several businessmen and shopkeepers through fraudulent means and impersonation. Multiple complaints have been received against him from different parts of the Valley, besides multiple FIRs registered against him at various Police Stations.

These include FIR No. 76/2022 under Section 430 IPC at Police Station Kothibagh and FIR No. 83/2023 under Sections 201, 379, 416 and 430 IPC at Police Station Pulwama.

The accused has also previously been detained under the Public Safety Act (PSA) in view of his continued involvement in criminal activities.

Further investigation is underway to establish his wider network and ascertain his involvement in other instances of fraud.

Srinagar, 07 August 2026:

In a significant achievement, Srinagar Police has secured the conviction of the accused in a 2020 murder case registered as FIR No. 03/2020 of Police Station Maisuma.

The Hon'ble Court convicted 𝑮𝒉𝒖𝒍𝒂𝒎 𝑴𝒐𝒉𝒊-𝒖𝒅-𝑫𝒊𝒏 𝑫𝒂𝒓, 𝒔𝒐𝒏 𝒐𝒇 𝑨𝒃𝒅𝒖𝒍 𝑮𝒂𝒏𝒊 𝑫𝒂𝒓, 𝒓𝒆𝒔𝒊𝒅𝒆𝒏𝒕 𝒐𝒇 𝑩𝒊𝒄𝒉𝒘𝒂𝒓𝒂, 𝑫𝒂𝒍𝒈𝒂𝒕𝒆, 𝑺𝒓𝒊𝒏𝒂𝒈𝒂𝒓, for the murder of Abdul Gani Dar, son of Mohd. Abdullah, resident of Rassu, Budgam, under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

After hearing arguments on the quantum of sentence, the Hon'ble Court observed that although the offence was grave and heinous, it did not fall within the category of the "rarest of rare" cases warranting the death penalty. Accordingly, the Court sentenced the convict to 𝑹𝒊𝒈𝒐𝒓𝒐𝒖𝒔 𝑰𝒎𝒑𝒓𝒊𝒔𝒐𝒏𝒎𝒆𝒏𝒕 𝒇𝒐 𝑳𝒊𝒇𝒆 𝒂𝒍𝒐𝒏𝒈 𝒘𝒊𝒕𝒉 𝒂 𝒇𝒊𝒏𝒆 𝒐𝒇 ₹50,000.
The fine amount, if realized, shall be paid to the legal heirs of the deceased as compensation.
The convict has also been granted the benefit of set-off for the period already spent in judicial custody, in accordance with law.

While passing the sentence, the Hon'ble Court took serious note of the fact that the brutal assault occurred inside the premises of a mosque, observing that violence in a place of worship undermines public peace, communal harmony and the sanctity of sacred institutions.
Considering the hardship faced by the victim's family, especially the dependence of his children, the Hon'ble Court also directed the payment of ₹7 𝒍𝒂𝒌𝒉𝒔 𝒂𝒔 𝑽𝒊𝒄𝒕𝒊𝒎 𝑪𝒐𝒎𝒑𝒆𝒏𝒔𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏 under the Jammu & Kashmir Victim Compensation Scheme, 2019, to be released through the Jammu & Kashmir State Legal Services Authority within the stipulated period.

The conviction is the result of a meticulous investigation conducted by Srinagar Police and effective prosecution before the Hon'ble Court.
It reflects the unwavering commitment of Srinagar Police towards ensuring justice for victims through professional investigation, scientific evidence, and diligent prosecution.

Srinagar, August 07, 2026:

In a significant breakthrough against property crime, Srinagar Police has solved a major theft case and recovered stolen property worth approximately ₹𝟭𝟳.𝟱 𝗟𝗮𝗸𝗵.

The case was registered at Police Station Rainawari as FIR No. 35/2026 under Sections 305 and 331(3) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) following a complaint lodged by Mohd Amin Changa, son of Mohd Yousuf Changa, a resident of Changa Mohalla, Mir Behri, Dal, Rainawari, regarding a theft at his residence.

During the investigation, Police identified one accused namely 𝐌𝐨𝐡𝐝 𝐇𝐮𝐬𝐬𝐚𝐢𝐧 𝐋𝐚𝐭𝐨𝐨, 𝐬𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐟 𝐌𝐨𝐡𝐝 𝐀𝐟𝐳𝐚𝐥 𝐋𝐚𝐭𝐨𝐨, 𝐚 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐀𝐤𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐧 𝐌𝐨𝐡𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐚, 𝐌𝐢𝐫 𝐁𝐞𝐡𝐫𝐢, 𝐃𝐚𝐥, 𝐑𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐢. During investigation, his involvement in the theft was disclosed, in connivance with two associates, both of whom were found to be juveniles.

Acting upon the disclosure, the investigating team recovered gold ornaments valued at approximately ₹12 lakhs along with cash amounting to ₹2.2 lakhs.

Further investigation revealed that a portion of the stolen money had been used to purchase three iPhones and one motorcycle, collectively valued at approximately ₹3.5 lakhs. These items have also been recovered.

The recovered stolen property includes:

• Two gold bangles
• Eight gold rings
• One gold necklace
• One gold pendant set
• Two large earring sets
• One small earring set
• One pair of gold jhumkas
• One wristwatch
• Cash amounting to ₹2.2 lakhs
• Three iPhones
• One motorcycle

The total value of the recovered gold ornaments, cash, and other stolen articles is estimated at approximately ₹𝟭𝟳.𝟱 𝗟𝗮𝗸𝗵.

Further investigation into the case is underway, and additional recoveries are expected.

In a swift and professional investigation, Srinagar Police cracked a blind murder case within six hours of the recovery of an unidentified dead body, leading to the arrest of two accused involved in the crime.

On 30 July 2026, 𝐏𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐊𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐲𝐚𝐫 received information regarding an unidentified dead body wrapped in gunny bags lying in the Babademb Canal beneath Baba Dawood Khakhi Bridge, Khanyar. Accordingly, FIR No. 49/2026 under Sections 103 and 238 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) was registered, and investigation was taken up.

Considering the gravity of the offence, a 𝐒𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐈𝐧𝐯𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐠𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐓𝐞𝐚𝐦 (𝐒𝐈𝐓) was constituted under the supervision of senior officers. Through sustained investigation and corroboration of available evidence, the identity of the accused was established as 𝐇𝐚𝐥𝐞𝐞𝐦𝐚 𝐁𝐚𝐧𝐨 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐬𝐨𝐧 𝐌𝐨𝐨𝐦𝐢𝐧 𝐀𝐡𝐦𝐚𝐝, originally residents of Machil, Kupwara, who were residing as tenants at Mughal Mohalla, Rainawari.

After committing the offence, both accused fled Srinagar in an attempt to evade arrest. However, Srinagar Police meticulously pursued all available leads, relentlessly chased the accused, and successfully traced and apprehended them from Lolab, Kupwara,within hours of the recovery of the body.

During the course of investigation, the deceased was identified as 𝐍𝐚𝐳𝐢𝐫 𝐀𝐡𝐦𝐚𝐝 𝐁𝐡𝐚𝐭, 𝐬𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐟 𝐆𝐡𝐮𝐥𝐚𝐦 𝐌𝐨𝐡𝐚𝐦𝐦𝐚𝐝 𝐁𝐡𝐚𝐭, 𝐚 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐊𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐚, 𝐇𝐚𝐰𝐚𝐥. Investigation revealed that he was murdered inside the accused's rented accommodation following a financial dispute. The accused subsequently disposed of the body in the Babademb Canal in an attempt to conceal the offence and destroy evidence.

Several incriminating articles connected with the commission of the crime have been recovered during the investigation. Further investigation is underway to ascertain the involvement of any other person and to complete all legal formalities in accordance with law.

The prompt detection of this blind murder case within six hours of the recovery of the body reflects the professionalism, dedication, and coordinated efforts of Srinagar Police in ensuring that perpetrators of serious crimes are swiftly brought to justice.

Continuing its sustained and relentless crackdown against drug trafficking under the Nasha Mukti Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyan, Srinagar Police has attached two immovable properties worth approximately ₹1.05 crore belonging to notorious drug peddlers, reaffirming its commitment to dismantling the financial infrastructure of narcotics networks operating in the district.

The first attached property comprises a residential house along with the land underneath, situated at Pamposh Colony, Palpora, Noorbagh, Srinagar, belonging to Aqib Mushtaq Kenu, S/o Mushtaq Ahmad Kenu, R/o Pamposh Colony, Palpora, Noorbagh, Srinagar. The property, having an approximate market value of ₹50 lakh, has been attached under Section 68-F of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985, in connection with FIR No. 48/2022 registered at Police Station Safakadal under Sections 8/21/29 of the NDPS Act. The accused is presently on bail granted by the Hon'ble Court.

The second attached property comprises a three-storeyed residential house along with two commercial shops and the land underneath, situated at Pathar Masjid, Zainakadal, Srinagar, belonging to Altaf Ahmad Najar alias T.K. Khan, S/o Late Ghulam Qadir Najar, R/o Pathar Masjid, Zainakadal, Srinagar . The property, with an approximate market value of ₹55 lakh, has been attached under Section 68-F of Chapter VA of the NDPS Act, 1985, in connection with FIR No. 32/2021 registered under Sections 8/21 of the NDPS Act at Police Station Kral Khud. The accused is also under preventive detention under the Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (PIT-NDPS) Act, 1988, vide Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir Order No. DIVCOM/K/127/2025 dated 15.07.2025, and is presently lodged in preventive detention.

Both properties were identified during investigation as having been acquired through proceeds generated from illicit narcotics trafficking. The attachment proceedings were carried out after obtaining due approval from the Competent Authority (SAFEMA), New Delhi, in accordance with the provisions of Chapter VA of the NDPS Act, ensuring strict adherence to all legal and procedural safeguards.

The attachment operations were executed by duly constituted Police teams Srinagar, with the properties falling within the jurisdiction of Police Post Noorbagh and Police Station M.R. Gunj, respectively.

These actions form part of Srinagar Police's sustained strategy to strike at the economic backbone of drug trafficking networks by depriving offenders of assets amassed through the proceeds of crime. By targeting illegally acquired properties, Srinagar Police aims to deter those engaged in narcotics trafficking and reinforce the rule of law.
