Junior Warrant Officer Md Wahidur Rahman (Retd) is an accomplished Indian Air Force veteran with extensive experience in military training, physical fitness, airborne operations, youth development and defence preparation.
A qualified Ground Training Instructor (GTI), he also served as a Parachute Jump Instructor (PJI) at the Paratroopers Training School, Agra, where he contributed to the training of elite forces of India and personnel from friendly foreign nations.
During his three tenures with the National Cadet Corps (NCC), he guided and trained 10,000+ young Indians, nurturing discipline, physical fitness, leadership, character and a spirit of service. He concluded his defence career as Chief Instructor, 1 HP Air Squadron NCC, Kullu.
He has also served on multiple occasions as a Physical Fitness Test Selector for Agniveervayu, Garud Commando and Airmen, assessing candidates against demanding physical standards.
Notable Achievements
• Member of the first cycling team from Guwahati to Bum La via Bomdila, Sela Pass and Tawang, reaching approximately 15,200 ft.
• Completed an Ultra Cycling Expedition from Kullu to Shimla via Jalori Pass, reaching approximately 10,800 ft.
• Recognised as the sole Air Warrior to have achieved Ultra Skill in Trade and Development in JPE.
• Recognised as the sole Air Warrior to have worn both the Air Warrior Drill Team (AWDT) and Parachute Jump Instructor (PJI) qualifications.
• Completed a professional course in Cybersecurity and Artificial Intelligence at IIT Ropar.
• Contributed to the training of specialised military personnel at the Paratroopers Training School, Agra.
His journey reflects a unique combination of military discipline, instructional excellence, physical endurance, leadership, technological learning and commitment to youth development.
Beyond his professional pursuits, his interests include exploring and studying the Qur’an, flying drones, cycling, adventure activities, physical fitness and mentoring young defence aspirants.
