Hairstyle Interface X Architekten
The Hair Couture Salon by X Architekten is located at the quiet side of busy shopping axes of the city, and the objective of this redevelopment of the façade is to transmit the function of the hairdresser into the exterior to attract attention.
It is done through breaking free and standing out from the urban block through a three-dimensional architectural (hair) wave which runs along the exterior. It is a very effective store sign that is both dynamic in visual appearance and important in providing a certain degree of privacy, which supports the atmosphere and character of the salon. Because of the three-dimensional hair like wave’s ever changing look from different viewpoints in the street, this façade proves to be an attractive spot for passer-by.
The façade, although tries to stand out from the environment, it does not break away from the relationship with the building’s axes, and thus harmonizes with the general uniform environment. The material, laminated sheets are arranged vertically with varied spacing, but all at the right angle to the façade. The shapes are creating by a 3D construction process, and formed using a water-jet cutter, which is interesting as most installations of this kind makes use of the CNC.
