Sento spesso gente che si lamenta di aver fatto aggiustare la scheda madre di un portatile che li riportano dal tecnico che non rifunziona di nuovo.

Facciamo un esempio pratico...

se vi si rompe una lampadina e più precisamente la serpentina... la portate a riparare?

WINDOWS SI SPOSTERA INTERAMENTE SU CLOUD FRA DUE ANNI, AERO DI NUOVO DISPONIBILE DAL 2014

Si avvicina il primo anniversario per Windows 8 e per la maggior parte dei prodotti questo significa che una nuova major release potrebbe essere alle porte e prossima al rilascio. Tuttavia per Microsoft il discorso cambia, visto che ci ha abituati nel corso degli anni a cadenze nettamente più rilassate in modo da mantenere una singola versione stabile nel tempo, garantendo aggiornamenti continui.
La compagnia potrebbe però cambiare assetto e strategie di mercato, velocizzando le cose. Windows 9, in quest'ottica, sarebbe previsto già per il 2014 con un'interfaccia grafica leggermente rivoluzionata. Le trasparenze di Aero (tipiche di Windows Vista e Windows 7) potrebbero fare ritorno dopo essere state abbandonate del tutto con l'attuale versione, che adotta la controversa interfaccia Modern UI, presa in prestito dal settore mobile.
La stessa fonte anonima avrebbe divulgato anche alcune caratteristiche di Windows 10, che sarà un sistema operativo interamente basato sul cloud. Tutti i processi computazionali saranno eseguiti in pratica da remoto sui server di Microsoft e trasmessi al PC tramite internet, eliminando di fatto la necessità di disporre di terminali potenti per le operazioni basilari. Windows 10 potrebbe essere anche esclusivamente un servizio online di Microsoft, come gli attuali Office 365 e il nuovo Xbox Cloud di Xbox One, evolvendo così l'ecosistema in cloud della società di Redmond.
In ultima analisi c'è da considerare che tutte le presunte rivelazioni della fonte anonima vanno prese per quello che sono, cioè delle indiscrezioni non comprovate o comprovabili, né diffuse ufficialmente dalla stessa Microsoft e vanno di fatto affrontate con il beneficio del dubbio. Le tecnologie di oggi per il cloud sono disponibili e sufficienti a realizzare un servizio simile, ma probabilmente non a renderlo un prodotto di massa diffuso a livello globale dal momento che dovrà per forza di cose scontrarsi con i limiti delle connessioni ad internet.
Tornando ai giorni nostri, Windows 8.1 RTM è già stato rilasciato a produttori e OEM ed raggiungerà il mercato il 17 ottobre.

L'FBI PUO' REGISTRARE LE NOSTRE CHIAMATE E VIDEOCONFERENZA DA REMOTO

Secondo un nuovo report del Wall Street Journal, l'FBI avrebbe il libero accesso ai microfoni dei terminali Android e dei computer portatili, con la possibilità di attivarli e registrare da remoto le conversazioni telefoniche. La notizia proviene da un ex ufficiale statunitense, rimasto logicamente anonimo vista l'entità dell'informazione.
L'idea di intercettare i microfoni dei dispositivi portatili non è comunque nuova, nonostante né Google né l'FBI siano disposti a confermare la notizia divulgata dal quotidiano americano. Nel 2004 sistemi simili sono stati utilizzati contro presunti mafiosi, mentre nel 2002 l'FBI teneva sotto controllo il sistema di chiamate d'emergenza dei veicoli utilizzati da alcuni criminali sospetti.
Nelle notizie divulgate in giornata la novità risiede nel fatto che un gruppo di funzionari dell'FBI entra deliberatamente all'interno dei sistemi informatici utilizzando software di sorveglianza personalizzato o di terze parti acquistato da compagnie private, trasformandosi di fatto in hacker con strumenti simili a quelli adoperati da questi ultimi.
"L'unità per le operazioni remote" installa a volte il software nel computer da rintracciare tramite pendrive USB, ma il sistema funziona anche interamente da remoto come se fosse un vero e proprio malware: accedendo a un documento fittizio o selezionando un collegamento ipertestuale il software viene caricato automaticamente nel dispositivo in uso.
La fonte comunque ha anche informato che l'organizzazione investigativa si occupa di collezionare solo i dati rilevanti, anche se resta qualche dubbio sul modo in cui una cosa del genere potrebbe essere effettuata in maniera regolare.
Il governo americano in genere ha comunque bisogno di un mandato per lo svolgimento di attività di vigilanza, in particolare quando sono coinvolti contenuti privati come - in questo caso - le conversazioni audio. In passato, tuttavia, sono stati utilizzati metodi per aggirare la richiesta ed evitare una qualsivoglia rappresaglia legale.

FBI CAN 'RECORD OUR VIDEO CONFERENCE CALL AND REMOTE

According to a new report in the Wall Street Journal, the FBI would have free access to the microphones of Android terminals and laptops, with the ability to remotely activate and record telephone conversations. The news comes from a former U.S. official, who remained anonymous logically given the extent of the information.
The idea of intercepting the microphones portable devices, however, is not new, although neither Google nor the FBI would be willing to confirm the news disseminated by the American newspaper. In 2004, similar systems have been used against suspected mobsters, and in 2002 the FBI kept under control the system of emergency calls of vehicles used by some suspected criminals.
In the news disclosed in the day, the novelty lies in the fact that a group of FBI officials deliberately enters into computer systems using surveillance software custom or third-party purchased by private companies, becoming de facto hackers with tools similar to those used by the latter.
"The unit for remote operations" sometimes install the software on your computer to track via USB pendrive, but the system also works entirely remotely as if it were a real malware: accessing a fictitious document or a hyperlink by selecting the software is automatically loaded into the device.
The source also informed, however, that the organization is in charge of investigating only collect the relevant data, even though there is some doubt about how such a thing could be done on a regular basis.
The U.S. government has, however, generally need a warrant to conduct surveillance activities, particularly when they are involved as private content - in this case - audio conversations. In the past, however, methods were used to circumvent the request and to avoid any legal retaliation.

NUOVI DRIVER CATALYST 13.8 BETA PER SCHEDE RADEON, ORA CON FRAME PACING

AMD ha reso disponibile la versione 13.8 beta dei propri driver Catalyst, compatibili con le schede video della famiglia Radeon dalla serie HD 5000 sino alla più recente HD 7000, disponibili in versioni a 32bit e a 64bit per sistemi operativi Windows 7 e Windows 8. La particolarità di questi driver risiede nell'abilitare per la prima volta il supporto alle tecniche di frame pacing, grazie alle quali viene ottimizzato il funzionamento delle configurazioni CrossFire evitando per quanto possibile l'insorgenza del fenomeno del microstutter.

NEW CATALYST 13.8 BETA DRIVER CARD RADEON, NOW WITH FRAME PACING

AMD has released the beta version 13.8 of its Catalyst drivers compatible with the Radeon family of video cards from the HD 5000 series up to the latest HD 7000, available in both 32bit and 64bit operating systems Windows 7 and Windows 8. The particularity of these driver resides in enabling for the first time the support frame to the techniques of pacing, thanks to which the operation is optimized configurations CrossFire avoiding as far as possible the occurrence of the phenomenon of microstutter.

SKYDRIVE CONTRO SKY: E' GUERRA DI AVVOCATI!

Dopo aver descritto nella giornata di ieri le novità introdotte da SkyDrvie torniamo a occuparci del servizio di cloud computing di Microsoft in merito a problemi legali. Infatti, il colosso del broadscasting British Sky Broadcasting Group ha nei mesi scorsi interrogato la English High Court su una potenziale violazione da parte di Microsoft nell'utilizzo del termi Sky per il proprio servizio.
Con tempi di reazione ai quali spesso noi non siamo abituati l'istituzione inglese ha dato ragione al British Sky Broadcasting Group, quindi Microsoft dovrà correre ai ripari per il nome del proprio servizio.Il provvedimento non ha natura immediata e intende lasciare a Microsoft il tempo necessario per elaborare un nuovo nome e una strategia che porti alla migrazione degli attuali utenti.

La notorietà del servizio non dovrebbe creare problemi di ordine pratico e anche la forte integrazione nei servizi operativi sono ulteriori elementi che potrebbero semplificare il problema. Rimaniamo in attesa di ulteriori evoluzioni a questo problema che potrebbe avere anche soluzioni inattese.
Già nel recente passato Microsoft si era scontrata con problematiche simili: ci riferiamo all'utilizzo del termine Metro per identificare la nuova interfaccia grafica di Windows 8. Anche in quel caso un'azienda tedesca fede notare l'esistenza di un copyright e microsoft dovette ripiegare su un più asettico "modern UI".

SkyDrive AGAINST SKY: It 'WAR OF LAWYERS!

Having described yesterday the innovations introduced by SkyDrvie back to deal with the cloud computing service from Microsoft about legal problems. Nuova versione di driver beta, e siamo a quella GeForce 326.41, per le schede video NVIDIA della famiglia GeForce; i nuovi driver implementano per la prima volta il supporto alla consoleSHIELD, grazie al quale è possibile inviare via connessione WiFi il segnale proveniente da un PC dotato di scheda video NVIDIA GeForce direttamente alla console di gioco portatile. I SEGNALI GPS SONO VERAMENTE SICURI?

Un recente esperimento condotto al largo delle coste ioniche riporta l'attenzione sulla sicurezza e sull'affidabilità del sistema di localizzazione GPS. Questa soluzione di derivazione militare è stata poi liberalizzata con alcune limitazioni anche per un utilizzo civile, inoltre ormai da tempo si parla della messa in funzione di costellazioni alternative di satelliti dedicate all'utenza non militare e di proprietà non USA.
Senza entrare troppo nei dettagli della tecnologia, argomento già affrontato in passato, sintetizziamo dicendo che per ottenere il punto in cui si trova il ricevitore GPS è necessario poter ricevere almeno 3 segnali provenienti da tre satelliti, a cui poi consegue un preciso calcolo condotto anche con le informazioni disponibili su un almanacco.
Il fatto che è emerso poco tempo fa è la vulnerabilità dei segnali GPS utilizzati per la localizzazione. Un gruppo di studenti a bordo di un'imbarcazione milionaria - quindi presumibilmente dotata di ogni strumentazione allo stato dell'arte - è riuscito a generale localmente un segnale e ingannando il GPS di bordo falsando la posizione del natante. Da lì a mutare rotta verso destinazioni scelte dall'attaccante il passo è breve.
Ciò che ha lasciato perplessi è il fatto che nessun segnale di alert sia stato segnalato dall'apparecchiatura di bordo. Qui di seguito un'animazione che mostra quanto accaduto.

Non è certo il caso di creare allarmismo, infatti attacchi simili vanno considerati come estremamente mirati. Ma questo esempio aiuta a comprendere come il concetto di sicurezza e di possibili attacchi stia mutando anche verso ambiti non propriamente informatici. Vari esperti in differenti articoli online hanno sottolineato come l'introduzione della crittografia potrebbe garantire miglior sicurezza - soluzione per altro utilizzata a livello militare - ma i ricevitori commerciali dotati di risorse hardware limitate non sarebbero in grado di gestire questo carico di lavoro.
Anche altre soluzioni sono in fase di studio e tutte allo scopo di rendere più sicuro lo stream di dati inviato dai satelliti ma al momento attuale pare che le soluzioni trovate siano troppo complesse. DOES GPS SIGNALS ARE REALLY SAFETY?

A recent experiment conducted off the coast of ionic puts the spotlight on the safety and reliability of the GPS tracking system. This solution from the military was then liberalized with some limitations for civil use, also for some time talking about the commissioning of alternative constellations of satellites dedicated to non-military users and owned by non-US.

The fact that has emerged recently is the vulnerability of GPS signals used for localization. A group of students on a boat millionaire - so presumably equipped with all state of the art equipment - managed to signal a general locally and deceiving the onboard GPS distorting the position of the vessel. From there to change route to destinations chosen by the attacker is a short step.
What has puzzled is the fact that none of the alert signal has been reported from the equipment on board. Below animation that shows what happened.

This is not the case of scaremongering, in fact similar attacks should be considered as highly targeted. But this example helps to understand how the concept of safety and potential attacks is changing even to areas not properly computer. Various experts in various online articles have pointed out that the introduction of encryption could ensure better security - for another solution used at the military level - but commercial receivers with limited hardware resources would not be able to handle this workload.
Also other solutions are under study and all in order to make more secure the data stream sent by the satellites but at present it seems that the solutions found are too complex.
