What measures are important for secure OT networking?

Eight cybersecurity agencies have collaborated to answer this question. The result is a cross-agency reference framework. With the Endian Secure Digital Platform, companies can put these recommendations into practice:

How can OT technology be securely connected today?

Eight cybersecurity agencies, including the National Cyber Security Center (NCSC) in the UK, have addressed this issue. Together, they have published a guide that answers this increasingly complex question: “Secure Connectivity Principles for Operational Technology (OT)” outlines eight core principles for the secure networking and management of operational technology.

Background: Production environments today are more interconnected than ever before. Predictive maintenance and data analysis create economic benefits, but at the same time, the attack surface grows with every new connection point. The number of cyberattacks on industrial environments shows that attackers are exploiting precisely this vulnerability.

The eight principles range from conducting a risk assessment before any new network connection is established, to reducing the attack surface, to hardening the OT perimeter. Centralized access management also plays an important role.
