Mr Klipsch il vero innovatore

80 years of iconic Klipsch images | PWK with Foam Cowboy Hat, 1981 – Paul W. Klipsch was no stranger to clowning around. Humor was a large part of his personality, although a significant percentage of his jokes flew over the subjects’ heads. In a 1954 television interview, he promised to speak in words of “one cylinder or less”. In that same interview, he went on to say that he didn’t agree with the new term ‘hifi’ because loudspeakers either practiced fidelity or infidelity. Other Klipschisms include: “I’m 1/8 German and 1/5 Scotch”, and “I went to Stanford to do my loafing as profitably as possible”. He often referred to sales managers as “sales manglers”, and slide rules were “sly drools”. In this 1981 photo by Gary Gillum, PWK is in his office doing calculations as if nothing strange was occurring, daring someone to comment. For more than a decade this image was used as the 404-error message graphic on the Klipsch website.
