Two days of collaboration and inspiration in Velenje for the DoorCE Fourth Consortium Meeting!

On 16–17 June 2026, our partners gathered in the heart of Velenje’s old town to align on progress, shape the next steps of the project, and strengthen the cooperation that drives DoorCE forward. From the opening welcome to the deep dive workshops on WP1, WP2 and WP3 as well as reporting and eventual project extension. The meeting was a powerful reminder of how much we achieve when expertise and commitment come together.

DoorCE is also about places, people and stories. The 150 meter descent into the Mining Museum of Slovenia and the sweeping views from Velenje Castle brought a unique cultural depth to our meeting. The start of the Slovenian Cycling Tour, our lakeside dinner, and other informal moments among partners added energy and connection, making the experience truly memorable.

A heartfelt thank you to our hosts in Velenje for the impeccable organisation and warm hospitality!

Another important step forward in strengthening cooperation and driving the DoorCE project toward its next milestones!

aconium presents DoorCE at the Berlin Open Data Day 2026!

Daniel Yanev from aaconiumGmbH presented DoorCE at the Berlin Open Data Day 2026 on 28th May in the Town Hall of Berlin (Red Town Hall). The presentation was called “From Data Silos to Data Utilization: Low-Code Open Data as a Practical Approach for Local Governments” and it placed the focus on the DoorCE toolbox as an enabler of open data for municipalities with little practical knowledge and experience in the field.

📢 DoorCE at Berlin Open Data Day 2026!
📍 On 28 May 2026, the DDoorCeproject was presented at Berlin Open Data Day 2026 at the Rotes Rathaus in Berlin.
🎤 In the presentation From Data Silos to Data Utilization: „Low-Code Open Data as a Practical Approach for Local Governments”, Daniel Yanev from DoorCE project partner aconium GmbH introduced DoorCE’s approach to making open data more accessible and usable for municipalities.

🧰 Our project helps local administrations by developing practical tools and guidance, including:
✅ an Open Data handbook with step-by-step guidance and best practices
✅ an Open Data toolbox based on open-source solutions such as CKAN and DCAT-AP
✅ low-code/no-code tools for data publication, metadata management, API generation, visualisation and dashboards

🤝 By reducing technical entry barriers, DDoorCeaims to support non-technical departments in publishing and using open data more effectively — and to help them create real value for citizens, administrations, research and businesses.

🙏 Many thanks to the organisers of Berlin Open Data Day 2026 for the opportunity to present DDoorCeand exchange with the open data community in Berlin.

A full day of open data discussions at Data Week Leipzig

Dilara Sir and Johanna Varanasi of aconium GmbH showcased the DoorCE toolbox in the workshop: Open Data without code - how DoorCE empowers local governments to unlock the potential of public open data, fostering collaboration, transparency and innovation in municipalities across Europe.

Participants of the workshop “Open Data without code” tested how the DoorCE materials and toolbox helps municipalities upload, describe, license, and publish datasets with low technical effort. Built on low-code and no-code principles, the DoorCE approach supports both technical and non-technical staff in shaping open data processes.

In the evening, open data enthusiasts continued discussing how open data can create public value at aconium’s Leipzig office, featuring an insightful digital input from Bernhard Krabina with practical tips on how to start the data inventory in a municipality.

Thanks to the Data Week Leipzig team for the organisation and to all the workshop participants for the exchanges and valuable feedback.

Municipality of Sopot

Sopot, in terms of population, stands out as Poland’s smallest city with county rights and one of the Baltic coast’s most charming destinations. Its unique blend of history, culture, architecture, and natural beauty continues to attract visitors and inspire residents. Today, Sopot is taking another step toward becoming a fully modern, accessible, and data driven city. The new Open Data portal will make key information from national and municipal registers freely available, empowering citizens, businesses, and the research community.
Thanks to the DoorCE Project, Sopot will also implement tools for automated data publication and develop clear instructions for partners on how to prepare open, high quality datasets.
