As part of the ACM Celebration of Women in Computing, SoBigData will host the workshop “Promoting Diversity & Inclusion in the SoBigData Research Infrastructure” in Sophia Antipolis, France.

The session will be led by Giordano d’Aloisio, Antinisca Di Marco, Michela Natilli, Roberta Savella and Roberto Trasarti and will share the experience developed within SoBigData, providing an opportunity to exchange perspectives and discuss how diversity and inclusion practices can be applied in research infrastructures, data science, and different research and professional contexts.

📢 𝗥𝗲𝗴𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗻𝗼𝘄 𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗻 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝟰𝘁𝗵 𝗲𝗱𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝗼𝗕𝗶𝗴𝗗𝗮𝘁𝗮 𝗦𝘂𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗿 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹

The SoBigData Summer School 2026 will take place 𝟮𝟭–𝟮𝟳 𝗝𝘂𝗻𝗲 2026 in Baratti (Piombino), Tuscany, and will focus on 𝘿𝙖𝙩𝙖 𝘼𝙣𝙖𝙡𝙮𝙨𝙞𝙨 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝘼𝙄 𝙞𝙣 𝙎𝙥𝙤𝙧𝙩, 𝙃𝙚𝙖𝙡𝙩𝙝 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙒𝙚𝙡𝙡𝙗𝙚𝙞𝙣𝙜.

The school is designed for postgraduate students, PhD students, researchers, and social scientists who want to deepen their skills in 𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗮 𝘀𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲, 𝗺𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴, and 𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 applied to societal challenges.

The programme combines expert lectures with 𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗱𝘀-𝗼𝗻 group projects, where participants work on real-world challenges proposed by companies and associations.

Morning sessions will feature talks from international experts, while afternoons will be dedicated to 𝗰𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗯𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁 work guided by tutors, and participants will present the results of their work to a panel of experts at the end of the week.

Today the project has its official kick-off meeting in Brussels, marking the start of a European effort to support AI-enabled scientific research through a bottom-up, community-driven approach.

Within SCIANCE, SoBigData RI will act as scientific coordinator for the Social Sciences and Humanities ( ) area, contributing domain expertise, research priorities, and infrastructure perspectives to the development of – the 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐜𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐀𝐈 𝐢𝐧 𝐒𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐄𝐮𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐞.

The project brings together research communities, infrastructures, and AI centres to work towards a shared Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda and a roadmap for future infrastructure developments.

Looking forward to collaborating with partners across disciplines to help shape AI in science in line with real scientific needs.
