Bachelor Of Arts vs Bachelor Of. Education

Every year, Over 20,000 students are placed by the government into humanities and arts-based courses like Bachelor of Arts in Kiswahili, History, Geography, Linguistics etc. Many of them take up these courses thinking they are education degrees that will lead to teaching jobs.

If you’re one of those students, here’s something important to know. There’s a clear difference between a Bachelor of Arts ( B.A ) and a Bachelor of Education Arts ( B.E.D) . A Bachelor of Arts helps you become a specialist in a subject, while a Bachelor of Education trains you to teach that subject in schools.

If your dream is to become a teacher, please go for the Bachelor of Education. Otherwise, you might have to go back later and do a Postgraduate Diploma in Education before you can be registered by the TSC.

To make things easier, if you don’t qualify for a degree yet, consider starting with a Diploma in Education. It can get you into the classroom sooner, and later on, you can upgrade to a degree, possibly even transfer some credits. In just a FOUR years, you’ll have both a diploma and a degree, plus real teaching experience along the way.

Scholarship, HELB Loan & Upkeep Fund Applications Now Open

Applications are open for degree, diploma, and certificate students..... both new and continuing.

First-time applicants will need an admission letter to apply.
Scholarships and upkeep funds are only for students placed in public universities, TVETs, and TTCs under the Ministry of Education.

Education CS Julius Ogamba is expected to officially release the KUCCPS placement results for 2024 KCSE candidates today.

What To Do:

1. Log in to your KUCCPS portal from 3:00 PM to find out the university or college and course you’ve been placed in.

2. The CS will also announce the opening of the course transfer portal, for those wishing to revise their placement.

3. Starting next week, you’ll be able to download admission letters from the websites of the universities or colleges where you’ve been placed.
