You don't need a new idea to enter a hackathon.

GKHack26's Kenyan node runs 25–27 September in Kisumu, part of Geekulcha's continental hackathon across seven countries. Lolwe AI & Robotics is Geekulcha's appointed coordinator for Kenyan participation.

Teams can enter with work already underway. A final-year project. A research prototype. Something half-finished on a laptop since April. The requirement is one significant new capability built across the weekend — not a blank page on Friday morning.

Three Kenyan focus areas: agriculture, mining, aerial mapping. Geekulcha also runs an open Brand New track for a problem of the team's own choosing.

The award is not a cheque. The winning team enters a ninety-day deployment with a named institution, built at Lolwe AI's cost, with the team credited and retained on the work.

Great Lakes University of Kisumu is mobilising for the Kenyan node of GKHack26 — Geekulcha's continental hackathon running across South Africa, Botswana, Lesotho, Malawi, Nigeria, Zimbabwe and Kenya. Lolwe AI & Robotics Studio is Geekulcha's appointed coordinator for Kenyan participation.

Fifty seats. Kisumu, 25–27 September.

You do not need a new idea. Existing projects qualify — the final-year build, the repo you abandoned in April, the tool you wrote for somebody's co-op. One significant new capability across the weekend is the whole ask.

Four tracks: agriculture, mining, aerial mapping, or a problem entirely your own.

And what's at the end isn't a cheque. The winning team's solution gets built with a real institution over 90 days, at Lolwe AI's cost, with the team credited and retained on the work. KSh 1,050,000 in committed value.
