I've heard these statements before, and even now, many times ~ "you are expensive."
40% of the times, owners/decision makers say that statement because they don't know and 59% of the times is because of what other/some managers have told them!
The question or the statement I would rather they have is this: is it "really expensive" and is it worth it? Then follow with, do I even know what is happening? Do I have the numbers to justify it is expensive?
Many times, the need for it comes because they have realized that it's an expensive affair that needs to be monitored and if possible save the situation from the fuel solution they want.
For example, I charge 85,000kes for a Fuel & Tracking Management Solution for a 200 litres truck. The truck does 4 trips in a month and the owner has been complaining bitterly they spend 250 litres to 300 litres to and fro for each trip. 250 litres by 229kes/l price of diesel means that's 57,250kes per trip and 229,000kes per month!
We installed the solution and turned out that the truck actually uses 140 litres on the higher side, to and fro on a trip. That's 32,060kes per trip and 128,240kes per month.
Now, here's the real maths: installation cost: 85,000kes, real fuel expenditure 128,240kes × 12 months = 1,538,880kes totaling 1,623,880kes.
Without Solution, here's the math: 229,000kes × 12 months = 2,748,000kes.
And I ask myself, which one is expensive between the two?
Then unfortunately, others go for the so called "cheap solution" which in the first place doesn't even give you accurate fuel consumption and figures 🤷 and you end up with even higher expenditure; again we ask, which one is expensive bearing in mind we have not touched on the false Fuel Invoicing and fuel theft/siphoning that the system is able to detect, mitig*te and stop?
Then you have owners with more than 5 or 10 trucks talking about being expensive and "controlling their cash flow" ~ 10 vehicles × 229,000kes per month (as fuel is day to day necessary expense) = 2,290,000kes versus the solution's 128,240kes per month by 10 vehicles = 1,282,400kes
Which one is expensive and which one is giving you better cash flow again?
Are your managers and finance team really helping or are they part & parcel of the "sabotage" or "financial leaks"?
