When someone asks me which laptop to buy, it’s always the same.

“I want i7. 16GB RAM. Something fast.”

I ask: fast for what?

They don’t know, and the guy selling it on Luthuli Avenue doesn’t care.

So what does actually matter?

𝗔𝗻 𝗶𝟯 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟰 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺 𝗮𝗻 𝗶𝟳 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝟮𝟬𝟭𝟰 𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗹𝗺𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗱𝗼 𝘁𝗼𝗱𝗮𝘆.

One moves like River Road at 5pm and the other like the Expressway at 6am.

You feel it every single day.

So you end up with this:

One person pays more for “i7, 16GB, upgraded,” still waiting for the laptop to respond.

Another buys a properly configured i5 and is already working.

The number on the sticker is not the machine.

The configuration is the machine.

You need to understand what you’re actually buying.

Otherwise you’re not buying a computer — you’re buying words.
