IEBC needs to give us a detailed report immediately.
Database rules are universal. The ACID principles are very clear (Atomicity, Consistency, Isolation, and Durability) You don’t just “upgrade” systems handling voter data without proper planning and reporting.
Which specific part/s of the system is getting this upgrade?
- The database?
- The application layer?
- Search service?
- Frontend?
Guys, be specific we live in an information age.
Error messages should be concise and informative. The system should speak for itself. We need the exact HTTP error codes.
- 503 Service Unavailable (server down for maintenance or overload)
- 500 Internal Server Error
- 502 Bad Gateway
- 504 Gateway Timeout
- 404 the requested webpage cannot be found on the server.
IEBC, basic web standards and good engineering practice is known world over. With a by-election in less than 10 days and your lack of prior notice and poor error handling is closely being monitored.
Besides give Kenyans and the whole world a post-upgrade report on what was changed and how data integrity was maintained.
A vague “search results not found” page that misleads users and hides the real issue will be met with equal velocity.
