On the afternoon of January 14, 2026, in Da Nang, the “Daegu – Da Nang ICT round-table conference” was held within the framework of the visit and working program of the delegation led by the Acting Mayor of Daegu (South Korea). Mr. Ho Quang Buu – Member of the City Party Committee and Vice Chairman of the Da Nang People's Committee – chaired the reception for the Daegu delegation led by Mr. Kim Jung Ki, Acting Mayor of Daegu. The seminar was attended by representatives of the Da Nang Semiconductor and Artificial Intelligence Center for Design and Training (DSAC), the Da Nang Innovative Startup Support Center (DISSC), the Daegu Digital Innovation Center (DIP), and typical enterprises from the DGICT and DSEC software associations.
In his opening speech, Mr. Ho Quang Buu expressed his desire to strengthen cooperation between Da Nang and Daegu in human resource training, technology transfer, business networking, and participation in technology supply chains. He affirmed that the Da Nang city government is committed to accompanying, supporting, and creating favorable conditions for Daegu and South Korean enterprises to implement long-term cooperation and investment activities in the city. In particular, the National Assembly of Vietnam's approval of Resolution No. 259, which amends and supplements Resolution No. 136 on the organization of urban government and pilots several specific mechanisms and policies for the development of Da Nang, is considered an important legal corridor, providing outstanding preferential conditions to attract strategic investors in the fields of semiconductors and artificial intelligence – areas where Daegu holds many strengths.
The seminar took place in an open atmosphere, focusing on direct exchanges between the governments and businesses of the two localities regarding cooperation orientations in the ICT sector, business connectivity, and sharing information on infrastructure and policies for the development of the information technology and innovation industries of each city. During the program, representatives from both sides introduced overviews of their ICT ecosystems, areas of strength, development orientations, and business support programs; simultaneously, they discussed the possibility of cooperating to implement pilot projects, market connectivity, research and development (R&D) cooperation, and business expansion.
Speaking at the seminar, Mr. Kim Jung Ki – Acting Mayor of Daegu – expressed his expectation that businesses from both localities would increase cooperation through joint projects, promote technology and human resource exchanges, aiming to expand markets globally; at the same time, he affirmed that Daegu city will continue to step up promotion and connect South Korean businesses to Da Nang to expand cooperation in technology fields in the coming time.
