⚠️ A very common way laptop hinges get weakened or damaged is by opening the screen from one top corner.
When you lift from the corner, you put uneven twisting pressure across the lid, hinge mounts, and plastic around them. Over time that can lead to:
🔧 loose hinges
🔧 cracked plastic
🔧 separated bezels
🔧 one hinge becoming stiffer than the other
🔧 the whole lid starting to open unevenly
✅ Better way:
Open the laptop from the center of the lid, using a gentle steady motion.
If the hinge feels tight, use two hands and open it carefully instead of forcing one side up.
Older laptops especially can already have brittle plastic or stressed hinge mounts, so rough opening habits make the problem worse much faster.
Small habit, expensive damage if ignored.
How many damaged hinges have you seen on older laptops? 👀
