π Happy Asela Full Moon Poya Day! π
Today, Buddhists around the world observe Asela (Esala) Full Moon Poya Day, one of the most sacred days in the Buddhist calendar.
This holy day commemorates the first sermon of Lord Buddha (Dhammacakkappavattana Sutta) delivered at Isipatana, setting in motion the Wheel of Dhamma.
It also marks the beginning of the Buddha Sasana, guiding humanity on the path of wisdom, compassion, and liberation.
In Sri Lanka, the month of Asela is also celebrated with the magnificent Asela Perahera in Kandy, a centuries-old cultural and spiritual tradition held in reverence of the Sacred Tooth Relic of the Buddha. The procession beautifully reflects Sri Lanka's rich Buddhist heritage, devotion, unity, and cultural identity.
May this blessed Poya Day inspire us to:
πͺ· Practice mindfulness and compassion.
πͺ· Observe the Five Precepts.
πͺ· Engage in acts of generosity and kindness.
πͺ· Listen to and reflect upon the Dhamma.
πͺ· Cultivate peace within ourselves and share it with others.
May the blessings of the Triple Gem bring peace, good health, wisdom, and prosperity to you and your loved ones.
