At our core, Addictive is an advertising agency. Since 2008, we’ve continued to unconventionally think about advertising to truly connect the power of all mediums and unlock the potential of our clients’ brands. We also keep our workplace unconventional (we prefer to throw a red sock in with the white collars), because our people love what they do, and have fun doing it.
In 2008—the beginning of one of the greatest down-swings in the Sri Lankan economy—there was Robert Downey Jr’s first in the Iron Man franchise, oil was $100 a barrel, the US got its first black president and Addictive was released into the wild. We opened our business to strategically create brands for those striving to keep their businesses alive. Back then, the advertising landscape devolved back to the bare basics, with even outdoor, electronic media and events suffering the monetary blow, so it was more about developing new ways to utilize old media, rather than choosing what media to use.
Times They Are a Changin’
Just when it seemed like we had conquered the final advertising frontier; the Digital Revolution in Sri Lankan advertising stormed onto the scene and represented a colossal new Petri dish for us to experiment with. The explosion of internet advertising gave equal access to thousands of consumers, creating powerful new advertising channels through which we could spread a brand’s message. Suddenly, our trusted old strategies were no longer applicable. If we were to evolve with the times, we had to change our way of thinking. Old habits die hard yet they do eventually die. Wielding the machetes of website development, e-mail blasts and eventually social networking, we cut through our competition like diamond through glass.
Addictive Evolution
We still surprise ourselves by finding different ways to look at the same problems, but that’s what creativity is all about. There is no “one” solution that is the be-all, end-all answer for our clients, especially because the digital medium is organic in the sense that its uses and capabilities are constantly changing. And we’re no stranger to change. We’ve been undergoing a constant evolution, and it’s not over yet.
What We Do
Alter Your Perspective
As an advertising agency, Addictive provides a service. But so do mechanics, dry cleaners and massage parlors. The difference is that they give you a menu of services to choose from. We don’t, because every client represents a new brand, a new set of circumstances and a new opportunity—no two strategies are ever the same.
Instead, our services are only recommended once we’ve established a strategy for evolving your brand from traditional media to the digital realm. Whether that strategy includes a website overhaul supplemented by traditional advertising or a social media blitz coupled with web video is yet to be seen.
How We Do It
Change Your Habit
“That’s the way we’ve always done it” doesn’t exist here, because we work with clients who don’t just have the desire to grow, but the desire to change. We can take your company on the evolution from blah to bling with less pain and more reward. The only caveat being:
We work to help you flush out your pre-conceived notions of marketing and advertising. That way, we start from a clean slate. If we’re to change the way you look at, think about and implement the marketing efforts of your brand, we’ve got to make sure conjectures are kept at bay, or something unforeseen could be created in its place.
Our Philosophy
Change or Die.
Ask someone what advertising is and you'll most likely hear about television commercials, newspaper ads and radio spots. But we know it's more than that. It's change. It's the fight between trying to ignore it and trying to fit it into your life. It's everywhere and it's what we do.
While traditional advertising is important (those TV spots and radio commercials), we don't stop there. Addictive takes a look at where your customers are and designs marketing plans targeted towards those spaces. There’s no sense in you being where you’re customers aren’t.
Your opportunities exist in both what is well-known and what is unknown. They exist in the smallest of details and the largest of concepts. And they’re all interconnected. Just because you’ve never done that, doesn’t mean you shouldn’t.
The market consistently experiences change or reason to change in form or nature. Our clients are experiencing this every day. If you’re not changing along with them, it’s time to contact us.
