When building a brand world, we always consider how the customer will interact with the brand beyond the physical space, and how each touchpoint can be something to take home. This cold brew concept for Wide Eyes wasn’t something our client asked for, but we were curious to see far we could push the brand beyond the identity we’d already designed and to show longevity beyond the physical space.

For us, if it doesn;t go further than a nice logo and palette we haven’t done our jobs properly. Get in touch if you want to build a brand that goes further, last two spots are remaining for Q3.

A few more elements of the Wide Eyes 👀 brand world, from signage to boxes to coffee bags you can take home. Some came to life and some we imagined beyond the brief to ensure longevity and a brand that looks as good as it makes people feel 👀☕️

We got one more roundup coming for this brand this week 🙌🏼

We are opening up new spots for Q3…slip into our DMs or complete the form in our bio to build your vision

We’ve been sitting on this one for almost 3 years, and we’re super excited to finally let it out into the world 👀
Introducing Wide Eyes; a coffee brand built on the idea that caffeine isn’t the only thing that gets you buzzed. It’s the gossip, the glances, the “tell me everything” moments that happen over every cup in an increasingly chronically online world.

We wanted to capture that in a space that makes you want to visit, slow down, and actually meet up. With the tagline ‘brews for all moods,’ the idea was to be there beyond the mornings - for the deadlines, the catch-ups, and everything in between.
The hand-drawn type takes its cues from names scrawled on napkins and coffee cups, and the phrase ‘spilling the tea but never the coffee’ is our cheeky nod to the chats over brews that make you side-eye the next table.

Shout out to wannathis.one for bringing this one to life with their coffee mock up pack (love it when you actually find some good ones to bring the project to life) and of course Akila D. Weerasinghe | Illustration & Branding for his work and vision on this project back when he still loved us 🥲

One distinct mark - infinite applications 🏮

To build a strong brand, consistent use of visuals and colour is crucial. In fact, it can increase recognition by 87%. In a city saturated with new restaurant openings, we wanted to ensure that Eastbound cut through the noise.

In Eastern philosophy, the lantern is a symbol of connection and togetherness, so we took this idea and applied it across all touch points. We also wanted to avoid the over used red tones and chose a burnt orange instead to provide another point of difference.

Swipe through for our final roundup on this brand, which has been packed out with bookings since we launched it ✨

After what seems like forever, we’re back with a new project to share.

When Karabu came to us, they had the space as an extension to the back area of their main cafe .colombo. They had developed amazing cuisine, but what they now needed was a story….something to tie it all together.

We built one inspired by Southeast Asian hawker culture elevated through a contemporary lens. The lantern symbolizes togetherness in Eastern culture, which we made the focal point with a modern, graphic feel.

From plating to colour to every corner of the interior, every touch point was intended to represent togetherness, tradition and cultural connection.

Swipe to see how a unified brand narrative transformed a space into an experience 🏮

Part 2/2

From gift vouchers to billboards, every touchpoint was considered. We refreshed Elegant Smockers’ loyalty programme, redesigned their gifting experience, and rolled out a cohesive brand identity across digital and communications, cementing their place as Sri Lanka’s leading baby store.

Another chapter of SNO comes to a close, but as we all know when one door closes another one opens, and I’m excited for what’s to come.

From birthdays, to photoshoots, to Christmas parties with our friends , to aesthetic balcony pics, steamy lunch packets and a tiny new boss, the last four years has been full of memories and many colleagues that became friends. We were lucky to work in a place designed by a pioneering woman, Minette de Silva, and often had tour groups coming through to see her work live on. I liked to think she would have also approved of a small group of creative female owned businesses working from her space.

I’ve wanted to go fully remote for a while, after COVID we drastically reduced our in studio days to Wednesdays only and pretty much kept it that way since unless we had a deadline or a design intensive, and I like being able to offer designers an alternative to long commutes and mandatory office days which are commonplace in Colombo. If anyone wanted a change of scene everyone had a key and it’s a general ethos I like to keep for SNO; flexibility and freedom.

So as we move forward it’s been nice to take a look back in our gallery and bid a fond farewell to our Gregory’s Road studio ✨
