INTRODUCING SPERA HUMANOID — BUILDING A GLOBAL HUMANOID ROBOTICS INDUSTRY FROM SRI LANKA AND CLAIMING OUR PLACE IN THE US$5 TRILLION HUMANOID ECONOMY
Today, we proudly introduce SPERA HUMANOID — PROTOTYPE ONE, South Asia’s first full-scale bipedal humanoid developed from the ground up for security applications.
The journey began with a childhood ambition of our Founder and CEO, Sahan Yapa: to build a machine in the human form and bring it to life.
Years later, that ambition became SPERA.
Sahan bootstrapped the company and continued investing in this vision through years of experimentation, setbacks, and failed attempts. Building a full-scale humanoid in Sri Lanka, with limited access to the specialised resources, technology, and expertise such an undertaking demands, often seemed beyond reach.
But one belief remained constant:
Sri Lanka should not simply watch the next technological revolution unfold. We should have a hand in building it.
Around that belief, a team of exceptional Sri Lankan engineers came together.
What followed were years of research, development, testing, failure, rebuilding, and countless iterations. Behind every movement of SPERA HUMANOID, every mechanical system, every electronic component, and every line of code is the work of a team that kept solving one problem after another until an idea became a working machine.
Today marks the result of that work.
SPERA HUMANOID — PROTOTYPE ONE is our first major step towards building advanced humanoid robotics technology in Sri Lanka and taking it to the world.
It also marks the beginning of a much larger ambition: to establish Sri Lanka as a serious participant in the emerging global humanoid robotics economy, a market projected to reach trillions of dollars in the decades ahead.
For us, this is about more than building a robot.
It is about building knowledge.
Building engineering capability.
Building technology.
And ultimately, building an entirely new industry from Sri Lanka.
Perhaps most importantly, it is proof that where an idea begins does not determine how far it can go.
