Sri Lanka’s AI vision takes centre stage in Geneva.

This week, Dr. Hans Wijayasuriya, Chief Advisor to the President on Digital Economy and Chairman of GovTech Sri Lanka, represented Sri Lanka at two landmark United Nations forums shaping the future of AI and digital governance: the UN Global Dialogue on AI Governance and the AI for Good Global Summit (WSIS 2026).

Across both platforms, Sri Lanka’s message was clear: AI is not simply a technology agenda - it is a national development agenda.

The discussions highlighted key priorities that are central to Sri Lanka’s digital transformation journey:

* Building inclusive AI that expands access to knowledge, opportunity and public services for all citizens.
* Developing culturally relevant and sovereign AI capabilities that reflect local languages and national priorities.
* Strengthening Digital Public Infrastructure as the foundation for trusted, AI-enabled public services.
* Advancing Sri Lanka’s National AI Strategy and Blueprint as a coordinated national platform for government, industry and priority sectors.
* Expanding equitable access to AI infrastructure through stronger international cooperation.

As countries work together to shape the future of AI, Sri Lanka continues to contribute to the global conversation while advancing a vision that is inclusive, trusted and centred on improving the lives of its people.
