Laptop won’t charge anymore? Still works on battery? DC Jack Repair **Rs.5 500 Flat Rate**

If you have a loose or broken dc connection where you plug in the power on your laptop, or it works intermittently, you could have a bad dc jack.

Symptoms

Move the power plug and the laptop loses connection
Broken or cracked dc jack
Laptop won’t charge but worked on battery
Power LED and battery LED flicker when the adapter tip is moved
Battery won’t charge
Sparks come out the back of the laptop

Why does this happen?

Flaw in manufacturer designs
Use of universal or non-original ac adapter
Lots of plugging and unplugging of the ac adapter
Tripping on or pulling the ac adapter cord

The wrong information some repair centers give:

Most service centers don’t want to deal with this problem on a micro repair basis. Many, including the large nationwide stores and the laptop’s manufacturer, will either tell you the machine is not repairable or that it needs a new motherboard. These quotes usually run from Rs.25 000 to as much as Rs.35 000. They choose to ignore the fact that a broken power jack can be repaired without a motherboard replacement.

1. Update and run virus protection software.
පරිගණකයක් එක පාරටම slow වෙන්න හේතුවක් virus. ඇන්ටි වෛරස් ගාර්ඩ් එක update කරල Virus Scan එකක් කරන්න.

2. Turn off unnecessary programs when the computer starts.
windows ස්ටාර්ට් වීමට දීර්ග වෙලාවක් ගතවිමට ප්‍රධානතම හේතුව Windows Start වනවාත් සමගම අනවශ්ය Programs Run වීම්යි.
ඒවා නැවැත් වීමට පහත සදහන් උපදෙස් අනුගමනය කරන්න.
A. Click Start and select “run”
B. Type the “msconfig“ and click ok or hit enter
C. On the System Configuration window select Startup Tab and uncheck those programs which you don’t want to starts such as Adobe Acrobat, Adobe Reader Updateer, Google Update, Quicktime, etc.
D. If you feel adventure, also check Services Tab and uncheck unwanted services.
E. Click OK and restart the windows.

3. Use a computer optimizing program such as CCleaner.

4. Add more Memory (RAM) - More RAM means that the computer can do a better of job of booting up programs, delegating tasks and increase overall system performance. 5. Defragmentation: Windows system places files and programs on a hard drive where there is space. One file will not necessarily be located in one physical place. Over time, a hard drive can become fragmented with hundreds of files broken up in many locations across the drive. Ultimately, this can slow down a computer’s response time because it takes longer for it to access information. The process of defragmentation places all parts of a file together in the same place on the drive. It organizes all directories and files according to how you use your computer. After this process is complete, your computer will most likely run faster. Step to defrag your computer
A. Click on the Start menu and select All Programs.
B. Select Accessories items
C. Choose the System Tools option
D. Click on Disk Defragmenter.
E. Select the disk and Hit the option button called “Defragment”.
F. When the process is complete, you can select another drive to defrag.

The steps above are basic computer tune up that should be performed as often as possible. Although it’s time consuming, you could purchase alternative software to automate the process. Search Google for alternative solution. "PC Repair" recommends that you have a professional computer technician, perform a complete tune up once or twice a year to maximize the use of your computer and prevent data lost.

Best of the Best Free Anti-Virus Program!

If you cannot surf the web, visit Facebook, YouTube, Google, email friends and family, then you might as well just watch TV. When you get a cold, headache or muscle pain, do you go to the doctor right away? Most people will try to take care of themselves by resting, having a bowl of soup,or taking some aspirin. If things get worse then you go see a doctor. You can apply the same principle when you get a computer virus. Don’t panic, use an Anti-Virus protection software and scan your computer. If the problem persists then you are best advised to take your computer to a good professional repair shop.

Which free Anti-Virus application should I use?

The answer is as many as possible. THERE IS NOT A SINGLE ANTI-VIRUS PROGRAM that can detect and clean all computer threats

Does this mean I should install all Anti-Virus programs?

I don’t recommend it, but if you do, expect your system to slow down.

there are FREE Anti-Virus programs that are sufficient to protect a home computer. We recommend you install at least the first three.

AVG - AVG offers Core Protection for free but consider the advantages of the Internet Security Solutions. It offers Chatting and downloading protection, Wireless Network Safety, etc. To get the free version, you will need to install the trial version. When you uninstall the trial version, you will be prompted to switch to the free version.

Malwarebytes - Malwarebytes’ Anti-Malware can detect and remove malware that even the most well known anti-virus and anti-malware applications fail to detect. The free version is as good as the commercial version except it doesn’t give you realtime protection. In non technical terms, you need to manually scan your computer as often as possible.

Once you have installed your free anti-virus protection, take the following additional protective measures:

Backup your computer!
Scan all portable / external media before using it.
Update your Anti-virus signature / definition file on a regular basis.
Some free versions will not protect your system in real time mode.
Do not ignore signs and computer error messages. It could get worse.

Only use Anti-Virus recommend by people you trust. Keep in mind that anti-virus protection sometimes generates false alarms. A common cause is when a program file has changed size but for a valid reason. Another common indicator that you may have a false alarm is if your anti-virus protection claims that a file may contain a virus but does’t know the virus’s name. Don’t delete files unless the anti-virus protection software specifically recommends it, recognizes the viruses name, and it otherwise looks like a reasonable suggestion. Use Google to verify the virus.
