🧠 Mastering Android Studio Memory Profiler

Memory leaks aren't always obvious — even in well-structured apps. That's where Android Studio Memory Profiler becomes your best debugging ally. 💪

We built a clear, repeatable process for detecting and verifying cleanup logic:
1️⃣ Record a controlled session
2️⃣ Force GC and capture heap dumps strategically
3️⃣ Compare dumps to see what stays in memory
4️⃣ Follow reference chains to pinpoint retained objects

Sorting by Retained Size (not just Shallow Size) instantly showed which objects held the most memory, while the Allocation Tracker revealed when new instances appeared.

Profiling turned from guesswork into a data-driven investigation — and the results spoke for themselves.

Building an AI-driven document processing system sounds simple — until you meet real-world data.
📄 Blurry scans, handwritten notes, inconsistent checkboxes… they challenge even the best off-the-shelf tools.
At Inellipse, we faced these challenges head-on while building a custom Intelligent Document Processing (IDP) solution for the mortgage industry.
We learned two key lessons:
✅ Checkbox detection isn’t trivial — it needs precise region isolation, adaptive thresholding, and smart contour analysis.
💡 Prompt design is everything — clear, context-rich instructions make AI extractions reliable and consistent.

We traced a memory leak in Shaka Player v4.16.0 🕵️‍♂️💻 to retained EMSG events piling up in segment buffers—causing memory growth, UI lag, and occasional crashes 🛑 on Smart TVs 📺.
💡 Our fix: custom EMSG removal + stricter buffer pruning during playback.
🚀 Result: steady memory ✅, smoother playback 🎬, longer sessions ⏳.
