India's market regulator has cleared Jio Platforms, India's biggest telecom and digital services operator, to launch its public issue โ€” potentially the country's largest IPO ever. The company is expected to raise around โ‚น377 billion (~$3.9 billion), beating the previous record held by Hyundai Motor India.

The offer covers up to 270 million new shares, with proceeds going to cut debt at Reliance Jio Infocomm. Meta's affiliate Jaadhu Holdings (~10%) and Google International (7.7%) are staying put โ€” neither is selling.Meanwhile, the National Stock Exchange's own mega-listing is still waiting on regulatory clearance.

Bangladesh's Posts and Telecommunications Division has told authorities not to clear the two cable ships hired to lay the country's first privately funded subsea cable โ€” no clearance without a formal recommendation from the division.

The BPCS consortium (Summit Communications, CdNet Communications, Metacore Subcom) has already sunk around $53 million into preparatory work. The stated concerns: licence conditions, national security, and protecting the state-backed incumbent's investment.

A reminder that in wholesale connectivity, the hardest part is rarely the engineering. It's the permit.

Article:

Bangladesh has withheld vessel clearance for the first private subsea cable, delaying BPCS installation and raising approval barriers.

Tata Communications is investing $152 million to add 98 Tbps of subsea capacity between India and Singapore, one of the world's busiest digital corridors. The plan splits across two cables: a $63M upgrade on the MIST system (Mumbaiโ€“Singapore, 20 Tbps, RFS Q4 FY27) and $89M into the new Project CS / I-2SEA consortium build (Chennaiโ€“Singapore, 78 Tbps, RFS ~2030). The goal is to feed surging AI, hyperscaler, and cloud demand, with the new capacity backhauled into Tata's 200,000 km Indian fiber network and 100+ data centres. Funded entirely through internal accruals.
