Battery drain too quick, and phone is getting so hot when using till its too hot to hold.
At first, owner did went to Apple Centre for diagnosis, ended up with just a dead-end kind of diagnosis with a “hardware-issue” report.
How frustrated it could be when the brand’s product, the authorized service centre was not able to provide a good solution, instead with just a simple kind of “hardware-fault” diagnostic report and offered owner to buy a new model.
Owner found us on a google search, and decided to come visit us for a diagnose, and it seems that owner have a lot of important work-related data & images that needs to be accessed.
According to owner’s explanation, we will diagnose the logic board and look for any kind of current leaking or short-circuit, and indeed, there was this 1 amp of current leaking before the device is turned on, no wonder the phone is heating up and battery draining so fast while using.
After a through explanation on the issue, we use our thermal camera to accurately locate the fault point in a quick manner and we have
found that there was a short circuit on audio related circuit.
To confirm, we will have to separate the top & bottom logic board, and use thermal camera once more to locate under the logic board and yes indeed the small audio chip is heating up.
So owner have agreed to fix this issue as soon as possible, we proceed to replace this faulty audio chip, and finally no more current leaking and once we have confirmed no more current leaking, we continue to reball the top & bottom board to solder & join back both top
& bottom board to finish up this repair.
And the repair was succesful with all owner’s data intact.
