The SST Makerspace team came to our Lagos office this week.
We had a great conversation. A faculty advisor running hardware programmes told us he has a list of components he needs right now, orders them from AliExpress, and waits. Nigeria graduates around 60,000 engineers a year. Most hardware projects here do not die at the design stage — they die when the part is not available, the team improvises, and the makeshift version never becomes a product.
That gap is the whole reason Microscale exists, and it is why an afternoon with SST felt less like a meeting and more like two halves of the same job.
Details still to settle. But we are building the same thing from different ends, and that was clear within ten minutes.
