A scorching hot day, warm or even hot night, dry, dusty air and absence of rainfall are some of the hallmarks of the summer – this time of the year.

Drink lots of water to stay hydrated:

When people are exposed to the sun or heat, it is a given that they would sweat and be dehydrated, whether they feel the hydration or not.

One other important way to keep the eyes safe during this hot season is to wear sunglasses when entering the sun, but people tend to shy away from it maybe because they do not know its advantage or they are just shy to wear one

Have your bath as much as you can:

One other way to stay cool this season is to have a bath as many times as possible. Apart from the fact that it is refreshing.

Drink water and salt solution twice a day:

Ajose, who is a consultant dermatologist, pointed out that when people sweat “excessively”, they lose water, salt and other substances, thus to replenish their system, they should take water and about twice in a day, they should take water and salt solution.

A coffee break serves many purposes beyond simple bodily sustenance (although that too is important). It’s a chance to pick colleagues’ brains about a result you don’t understand, to ask what to do next in a tricky case, or to update the team on a shared patient’s progress. For trainees and students it’s a good example of how colleagues can work together, being comfortable with admitting the limits of individual knowledge and asking for help. It also provides an informal space where they can ask questions, either clinical or practical.

Beyond the clinical, a coffee break is an opportunity to catch up with each other’s lives, holidays, families, and interests outside work. Friendships forged over coffee and conversation are useful when disagreements arise, as they inevitably will at any organisation. It’s much easier to debate when you know each other well. If you trust each other you can afford to disagree in meetings, spend time arguing, and allow the best decisions to emerge, unhampered by the fear that differences of opinion might spill into the rest of your working relationship.

Technology changes by the minute, and as educators, we need to keep up with the times in order to best prepare our students for this ever-changing world that we live in. Knowing how integrating technology into the classroom has its benefits, it’s important to note that traditional learning processes are just as essential.
OTRAC has adopted technology and making learning easier for foreign trained medical graduates.

Take care of your eyes by following the 20/20/20 rule.

Staring at a backlit device such as a smartphone or laptop all day is straining on your eyes. The 20/20/20 rule reduces this. Every 20 minutes, take a 20 second break and let your eyes wander over something six meters (20 ft) in the distance.

Put simply, mindful eating means sitting down at a table instead of in front of a screen and chewing your food slowly, rather than scarfing it down. You're more in touch with how hungry you actually are this way and are less likely to overeat.

It is important to learn how to take antibiotics correctly. Read the label to see how many pills to take and how often to take your medicine. Also, ask y]our pharmacist if there is anything you should know about the medication.

An important question to ask is how the medication should be taken. Some medications need to be taken with something in your stomach such as a glass of milk or a few crackers, and others only with water. Taking your antibiotics incorrectly may affect their absorption, reducing or eliminating their effectiveness.

It is also important to store your medication correctly. Many children's antibiotics need to be refrigerated (amoxicillin), while others are best left at room temperature (Biaxin).

Take your entire course of antibiotics. Even though you may feel better before your medicine is entirely gone, follow through and take the entire course. This is important for your healing. If an antibiotic is stopped in midcourse, the bacteria may be partially treated and not completely killed, causing the bacteria to be resistant to the antibiotic. This can cause a serious problem if those now-resistant bacteria grow enough to cause a reinfection.

Antibiotic Awareness Week
World Antibiotic Awareness Week from 18 - 24 November 2019. It aims to draw attention to the effective use of antibiotics (a type of antimicrobial) in preventing and containing antimicrobial resistance.
Since their discovery, antibiotics have served as the cornerstone of modern medicine. However, the persistent overuse and misuse of antibiotics in human and animal health have encouraged the emergence and spread of antimicrobial resistance (AMR), which occurs when microbes, such as bacteria, become resistant to the drugs used to treat them. AMR is rising to dangerously high levels in all parts of the world and is threatening our ability to combat common infectious diseases and support modern medical procedures.
