Becoming A Better Developer - Part 1

Beginning today we will be sharing powerful tips on becoming a great developer. It is high time you got serious about improving your programming skills.

In this eight part series, I will share with you powerful tips that will guide you on your journey of becoming a great developer.

First, don't assume that becoming a kick-ass programmer is a simple goal. For one thing, saying, “I want to get better” assumes that you recognize what “better” looks like. Plus, too many people aim for improvement without any sense of how to get there.

#1. RECOGNISE WHAT YOU DON'T KNOW!

The very first step in learning anything is recognising that you don't know it.

Once you can get past the personal assumption and arrogant bravado of “I know what I am doing!” or “Na today I begin code!” or the need to prove your programming skills to every new work colleague, you are on your way to becoming a great developer.

The fact remains that great programmers know what they don't know, and they stop at nothing to learn it.
