IF YOU’RE BUYING A UK-USED LAPTOP FOR CYBERSECURITY OR PROGRAMMING… READ THIS FIRST.
By SamBOLT Technologies
If you’re serious about cybersecurity or programming, your laptop is not just a gadget — it’s your weapon. The moment you start running tools like Kali Linux, Visual Studio Code, Wireshark, or Metasploit, you’ll realize a weak laptop will frustrate you more than your coding errors. You don’t need to overspend, but you must buy wisely.
Processor: Minimum Intel Core i5 (8th Gen+) or AMD Ryzen 5. Better option? Core i7 or Ryzen 7. Anything lower will struggle with virtual machines and heavy tools.
RAM: 8GB is okay for beginners. 16GB is strongly recommended for smooth multitasking.
Storage: Minimum 256GB SSD. 512GB SSD is better. Avoid HDD-only systems — they’re slow.
Go for business-class machines: Built for long hours, better cooling, stronger body, and easy upgrades.
Avoid: Pentium/Celeron, 4GB RAM, HDD-only laptops, and cheap flashy systems that overheat.
Best setup (if budget allows): Core i7 or Ryzen 7 + 16GB RAM + 512GB SSD. This can serve you comfortably for 4–6 years. Budget starts from ₦350,000+ depending on specs.
Don’t buy a laptop because it is cheap. Buy one that can carry your future.
