Stepping Out of My Comfort Zone πŸ“Έβš½οΈ

Over the weekend, I decided to try something I had been putting off for a while: Sports Photography.

I've always wanted to try it, especially football photography, but I kept finding reasons not to.

Football is fast.

Players are running, passing, tackling, shooting, and moving in different directions.

And as the photographer, you have to keep up while trying to capture the right moment.

Now imagine doing all of that when you can't remember the last time you went for a run. πŸ˜‚

That was one of my biggest excuses.

But last weekend, my church had a novelty football match, and I had the perfect opportunity to finally give it a try.

So I picked up my camera and got to work.

And somewhere between running around, trying not to miss the important moments, and figuring out where to position myself, I learned something.

Life moves fast.

Sometimes, there are so many things happening around us that it's easy to lose focus.

You can't capture everything.

You have to know what matters, stay focused, and be ready when the right moment comes.

Interestingly, the match was between the Men and the Youth, and it ended in a 1–1 draw.

But for me, the biggest win was stepping outside my comfort zone and trying something new.

And honestly?

I enjoyed every bit of it.

It's definitely something I'd love to do again.

Here are some of the moments I captured from the game.

Maybe this is your reminder to try that thing you've been putting off.

You might enjoy it more than you think. 😊

Have a wonderful weekend!

Life will move on without you!

Burnout taught me a lesson I won't forget.

For the past few weeks, I've been dealing with burnout.

At first, I thought the answer was to work harder.

I had goals to reach, deadlines to meet, and opportunities I didn't want to miss.

So I kept saying "yes" to almost everything.

But instead of getting more done, I became tired, distracted, and less productive.

That's when I realized something:

Not everything needs my attention.

The truth is, life will keep moving with or without me.

That was hard to accept, but it also gave me peace.

So I decided to make some changes.

I created a weekly timetable.

I planned my tasks ahead of time.

I started focusing on what truly matters instead of trying to do everything.

And unless something is really important, I won't keep adding new tasks that weren't part of my plan.

I'm learning that choosing yourself isn't selfish.

Protecting your time, your energy, and your peace helps you do your best work.

If you've been feeling overwhelmed lately, maybe this is your reminder:

You don't have to do everything.

It's okay to slow down.

It's okay to say no.

And it's okay to choose yourself sometimes.

"Am I Wasting My Time?"

That was a question I asked myself almost every Sunday.

When I joined the media team in church, my role was to take pictures during the service.

But deep down, I kept wondering, "Does this really matter?"

Part of me felt the most important thing was being in God's presence. I thought the pictures didn't really add much after the service was over.

I couldn't see their value.

But I was wrong.

Over time, I realized that photos do more than capture faces; they capture moments.

They help us remember what we might have forgotten.

A single picture can remind you of the worship, the message, the prayers, and how God met you on that day.

Today, I'm grateful I kept showing up with my camera.

Looking through the photos from last Sunday's service reminded me of the atmosphere, the joy, and the moments we shared in God's presence.

I can't go back to that Sunday.

But those pictures take me back to the memories.

Sometimes, the work you think doesn't matter today becomes something you'll be thankful for tomorrow.

"I can do all things through Christ that strengthens me". Are You sure about that? πŸ˜’

I learnt a brutal lesson on why rest is important.

Last month, I took up many responsibilities. From heading the media department in the Youth Church, to accepting leadership roles in other personal endeavours.

I was snapping and editing pictures, editing videos, holding meetings and running social media accounts all by myself.

I wish some told me to slow down.

Burnout caught up with me like a thief in the night. πŸ˜‚

While I was eager to accept responsibilities, I didn't realize there was only so much I could do at once.

Long story short, all my responsibilities suffered because of this error.

Did I fix it?

Honestly I am too tired to continue. I am still trying to recover. I will explain in my next post.

This is me trying to cop a smile in the midst of the chaos. πŸ˜‚

I was what you will call a novice when I took this picture.πŸ˜‚ I had no knowledge on how to position my light in order to properly light my subject.

I had no understanding of composition or how to pose my subject. I was only an enthusiastic chap with access to a camera. I was itching to click the shutter and take a picture of my friend. πŸ˜‚

I am better now, though I am still in the learning phase. I have a good understanding of the basics of photography.

Overtime, this particular picture was stuck in my subconscious and it has given me an idea on my favourite shots and lighting. It is a reminder of how far I have come in my photography journey.

Do not despise the days of humble beginnings. 🀭
