Hands-On Lab Guide: Using Airodump-ng for Wi-Fi Packet Sniffing
⚠️ Legal & Safety Notice:
* Perform this lab only on your own networks or with explicit permission.
* Unauthorized Wi-Fi sniffing is illegal and unethical.
Today, I explained Packet Sniffing in a Network using Airodump-ng
Packet sniffing is the process of capturing, monitoring, and analyzing data packets that travel across a computer network.
Each time you send an email, browse a website, or use an app, data is broken into packets and sent over the network.
Packet sniffers intercept these packets to view their contents and metadata (e.g., source and destination IP addresses, protocols used).
Packet Sniffing is Important for
✅ Network Troubleshooting: It helps network administrators to detect bottlenecks, dropped packets, or misconfigurations.
✅ Performance Monitoring: Understands which applications consume bandwidth.
✅ Security Analysis: Detects suspicious activities, malware traffic, and unauthorized data transfers.
✅ Learning Tool: Helps cybersecurity professionals to understand network protocols.
Airodump-ng, is a powerful packet sniffing and monitoring tool used in wireless network analysis and pe*******on testing.
Part of the Aircrack-ng suite.
A command-line tool used to capture raw 802.11 (Wi-Fi) packets.
Primarily used for:
Monitoring nearby Wi-Fi networks.
Capturing handshake packets for WPA/WPA2 cracking.
Gathering information about clients connected to access points.
So in this tutorial, I explained how Airodump-ng Work..
