The National Identification Management Commission (NIMC) has partnered with RANDAFRAMES to commence free registration of pupils and students in public schools across Kano State. The initiative aims to issue National Identification Numbers (NINs) to students in primary, junior, and secondary schools, particularly in light of the growing demand for NINs during WAEC and NECO examinations.

During an advocacy visit to the State Ministry of Education, NIMC's Regional Coordinator, Emmanuela Igbinovia, highlighted the importance of this project. She revealed that the commission would soon distribute forms to parents, which would need to be filled, validated, and submitted before the registration exercise.

The State Coordinator, Garba Balarabe, emphasized that this initiative would boost Kano's enrollment figures, allowing students to obtain NINs within a short period. He noted that the state's current enrollment figures trail behind Lagos and expressed optimism that this project would change the narrative.

The State Commissioner of Education, Dr. Ali Haruna Makoda, assured the NIMC of the state government's support and commitment to ensuring a smooth registration process. He urged parents and stakeholders to collaborate in ensuring that all pupils and students in the state are duly registered for their NINs.
